Bush official may run for CA state attorney general
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/10/05/BAGNDF2OOL1.DTL

Next year's race for California attorney general is taking on a new dimension with word in high-level Republican circles that Pierre-Richard Prosper, a Bush administration war crimes prosecutor, is preparing to announce his candidacy.

Prosper is a political neophyte, and if he runs -- an official announcement would likely come in a week or so, several people with knowledge of the campaign said -- he would face daunting odds. However, he could provide what at least some Republicans have said they would love to see in California: a young, presumably moderate, voice for the party.

Further, Prosper, 42, is black, which some Republicans say could help the party attract more minority voters; Prosper is a protege of his previous boss, former Secretary of State Colin Powell. Prosper's parents, both physicians, immigrated from Haiti.

I can't imagine anyone with ties to the Bushies doing well in the general election out here

I don't care if they're Jesus himself.

Working for Bush just has WAY too much baggage

2. If he was a war crimes prosecutor...
Edited on Wed Oct-05-05 10:29 AM by Hubris Heaver
he did a lousy job. He should have indicted Bush, Cheney, Rummy, Wolfowitz, et al. I doubt he'll go too far even in this very red area of the state.

3. Pierre-Richard Prosper...A GOP Trojan Horse Like Schwarzeneggar was
...and if the progressives and Democrats in this state don't "out" him for the Bush loyalist he really is, it could be--I'm afraid--that he slides in--just like the Gropinator had done.

So, we progressives and Democrats in California better not fall for the same trick thrice (don't forget the rightwing Repub that started the recall effort which the majority of Californians seemed more than happy to let happen--Democrat, progressive, and liberal alike!)!

4. This guy doesn't stand a chance
CA is a Democratic-leaning state, and he will be running with no name ID against a Democratic candidate with will massive name ID.
