SF Marchers! Check In, please!
I'm the girl with the peace sign hat and her wonderful 'beast of burden' husband Dave who kindly carried a ton of stuff for us, most of much wasn't needed!

We had fun and hope you are all home safe! I'm trying to find numbers of how many folks we had but it looked like we pretty much stopped part of the City for the day! We heard the front of the march had hit Market Street when we were still at Delores Park with lots of people behind us!
Washington had over 100,000 but I had hoped that a million would have turned. But if you had all of us up, including L.A. and SF, DC, SD and Italy and London, it was A LOTTA PEOPLE! And * hides in his spidey-hole in CO. What a wuuuuusss!

It was good to meet other DU'ers.

11. Good seeing you again, Patchuli!
I loved it when the cop smiled after I told him Proud Patriot is harmless when she began shouting at the Freepers and he looked concerned.

5. Checkin' in!
I think it was a terrific day. It was so nice to meet new folks. I made it home just in time -- I have offically come down with a cold, it came on during the drive home.

I hope I haven't shared my cooties with any DUers! I can't remember frenching any of you, but still....

Viva SF! Viva DU!

It was a good day. (Anybody else accidentally cut through LoveFest on the way home? Wow, that was an "interesting" event!)

10. Hi, dooner!
Yes, I cut through... and found myself wondering if it would be more aptly named SexFest, or if I am older than I think! Good gravy! Woowee!

14. We just couldn't quite figure out the theme
I even read the LoveFest "brochure" but still didn't get it.
Between the LOUD techo music, alcohol/party theme, and women in scanty pink outfits from the 80's...wow. I felt sorry for the cops that had to babysit THAT event.)

19. Median estimate of the number of marchers in San Francisco is 35,000
Yesterday saw the largest protests against the Iraq war since February 2003. On that day, about 200,000 marched in San Francisco.

We should hold our heads high. We were right about the war before the first missiles were fired over Baghdad: It was not about Saddam's biochemical arsenal, ties to al Qaida, violations of UN resolutions or bringing democracy to Iraq; it was a colonial enterprise, pure and simple, and all the stated reason were deliberate lies. We're still right: there may be a legitimate debate as to what do in Iraq now, but it doesn't include "staying the course" the leads off a cliff; as long as Bush controls foreign policy, we cannot expect an honest war against terrorism; we cannot expect the Bush regime to make Americans safer if that makes transnational corporations less profitable.

Bush's approval ratings are 35-40%. That is about the level a major party presidential candidate in a fundamentally two-way race can expect to receive just for showing up. These are the people who would continue to support Bush if he murdered their children before their faces, which, by continuing his failed policies in Iraq, he is in effect doing.
