Rep. Sanchez: I can relate to my constituents

Lakewood lawmaker not as wealthy as colleagues, has student loan debt.

Friday, June 17, 2005 - LAKEWOOD — Most Southland members of Congress are far wealthier than their constituents, financial records released Wednesday show.

But there's one exception: Rep. Linda Sanchez.

The Lakewood Democrat reported no stock or other holdings and owes about $45,000 in student loans.

Sanchez said that her income level makes her a great fit for her district.

"I represent working-class Americans," she said. "I can relate to the issues and concerns they have: wanting to earn a secure living, put kids through college and put a little away for retirement."

1. Well, I just learned that there is a Linda Sanchez and a Loretta Sanchez
and that both are Members of the House of Representatives from California.

I did not know that.

7. Thank you, too.
I wonder if they have any more siblings who could win elections for the Dems. :-)

8. I saw a TV report on the two of them
and they both share an apartment in DC. I think one is more conservative than the other but both are Dems.

10. Loretta Sanchez's flap with Al Gore was also probably one big reason
that Gore lost in 2000 too. Gore could have handled her interest in having a fundraiser in the Playboy Mansion more intelligently and kept a hands off approach on it, instead of using Sanchez as a foil to demonstrate that he was *not* Bill Clinton for that election, by his having the party punish her in many ways for doing this and being quite vocal about it as well.
