What planet is this guy living on? HAS HE BEEN WATCHING THE NEWS OR READING THE NEWS WIRES? This was written by Lucas Reobuck, managing editor of Siloam Springs Herald newspaper.
http://nwanews.com/story.php?paper=bcdr§ion=Editorial&storyid=24771Roebuck makes some accusations against the Arkansas Times which I admit that I don't know anything about, but he also makes some pretty outlandish claims that Bush was quick to respond. Not to mention a dig at "global warming nuts".

Fortunately, we have responsible adults like President George W. Bush and Gov. Mike Huckabee running the country, a stark contrast to the voices of immature children who have used this opportunity to advance their political causes and voodoo science.
When it was clear that the worst was about to happen, the federal government apparatuses designed for responding to this sort of tragedy were mobilized. Of course, the procedure for mobilizing starts with a presidential declaration of disaster, so the Bush team got the president to get the ball rolling to get help available at the earliest possible time.

This is another reason why Republicans keep winning elections. Although people may or may not agree with the whole GOP plank of domestic and foreign policy positions, generally Republican leaders like Bush are seen as the reliable adults in the room during a time of crisis. They trust Bush to get done what must be done. Just like when the Gulf Coast was being threatened by a powerful hurricane.

Meanwhile, the global-warming nuts are jumping all over Katrina in a typical "America-is-bad" response not dissimilar to those who said we had the 9/11 attacks "coming to us." Most notably, Robert Kennedy Jr. and many European and American newspapers have blamed Katrina on global warming. Fortunately, these scare politics attempting to capitalize on the suffering of others doesn’t seem to be sticking.
