I live in central Phoenix so would really appreciate Phoenix based news, but anything will do.

My husband is an independent but he thought the endorsemennt reeked, so he brought it up to me even before I said a word.

Their logic in that editorial just, well, there was none.

3. I am going to cancel too.
I am so tired of hearing about how liberal the AZ Republic is. Hogwash! They only endorsed the bozo to prevent ppl from cancelling. Whatever you do, do NOT subscribe to the East Valley Tribune. It's jesus-freak-o-rama. I cancelled that paper because it reads like a church circular. I subscribe to the NY Times, mostly for the crossword. :)

6. Make sure you tell them why, although the operators are getting sick
of hearing it, according to Mr. Blonde.

Pity, I won't see my LTTE in print!

Actually I will, it ends with our next billing cycle.

7. You bet
They're going to get it all. Mainly the pandering for subscribers by endorsing the idiot. Maybe the Tampa Bay Trib (or whatever) had it right... don't endorse anyone if you cannot do so with a conscience.

And it's cheaper. You're right about the fundie slant. I can't help it though, they crack me up on the op-ed pages.

5. I cancelled after the theft in 2000.
When I tossed out the AZRepublic, I tossed out Newsweek, Time and USNews with it. I agree with saracat that you can always read it online. I also find myself watching the local news more regularly to keep up-to-date with Valley news.

9. Arizona Daily Star ?
That's the Tucson paper that endorsed Kerry, IIRC. Maybe if enough people get subscriptions in Phoenix they will set up a Phoenix edition.

10. star used to be pretty good, still better than the repulsive
lived in both places - Star is still better. But why bother - its almost as much waste of time as the telly. Just say no.

11. Not just Bush, but
The Arizona Repuke endorsed:

A no vote on Prop 103, which is the biggest no-brainer yes vote on the entire ballot
Yes votes on Prop 101, 102, 104, and 105
Bush, with a sickening article about keeping hope alive with Bush or some nonsense like that
The entire Repuke slate for Corporation Commission
McCain, Shadegg, and Hayworth (expected, but still...)

And to top it all off, Rick freaking Renzi, the sleazy Virginia carpetbagger whose dad is a bigwig at a company that makes surveillance equipment for the National Security Agency and the CIA, who worked for the Pentagon during the 1980s doing the research on Libya that led to Reagan bombing that country, who spent the Congressional debate making snide remarks about "the environmentalists", and who didn't even bother to keep the rent paid on the Flagstaff house he rented so he could claim Arizona residence, meaning he is legally not even eligible to represent the 1st Congressional District. His actual residence is, and has always been, in Virginia.

I'm not just going to stop reading that paper, I'm going to boycott. every. single. one. of their advertisers. The Arizona Repuke is just a bought and paid for mouthpiece for the chamber of commerce and the real estate lobby. Screw them.

12. Wow...
The AZ Republic just can't win, can they? Repubs cancel because they believe it's left-leaning and Dems cancel because they endorsed Bush!
