Unions back Pederson in Senate race against Kyl
Unions back Pederson in Senate race against Kyl
The Business Journal of Phoenix - 5:05 PM MST Wednesdayby Mike SunnucksThe Business Journal

Democratic shopping center developer Jim Pederson is getting considerable financial help from labor unions in his challenge of U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz.

Pederson, a Democrat and a top Valley real estate developer, has received $64,500 in contributions from labor groups thus far in his race against Kyl.

The National Education Association, United Transportation Union, United Food & Commercial Workers Union and the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees have all given to Pederson, according to federal campaign finance records.

All told, unions make up 47 percent of Pederson fundraising from political action committees. Republicans -- including the National Republican Senatorial Committee -- are quick to point out that percentage is higher than the share of union PAC money received by Sens. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass. and Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y.

1. That is great news - but-
I am getting a little concerned.
Don't you think that we should be hearing more about Pederson in the paper, local news?
This doesn't seem to be much of a fight.
Even the Dems on the hill are quiet about this race.

What do you suppose the problem is?

3. the poll numbers are hardening
it's at something like 42-47, mostly due to Independents somehow preferring Kyl by 51 percent to something smaller for Pederson... this is probably all because Janet's campaign has finally cranked into action, and as all the campaigns move on the numbers will probably narrow even further.

7. yes, because the obvious best route to take would be to run someone
who believes we should overthrow the government and establish a Fourth International in its place.

Such a stand on principle would get the overwhelming support of people in Arizona who think taxes are a bad thing to begin with.

8. tsk
Firstly, you can play their game of elections all you want, its their game, they will win. secondly its the third republic and thirdly I never said anything about running a candidate. The unions should be on the side of Labor, this post clearly shows that they arent. Grassroots organizing and work yields more success
