COX Bill Passes in AZ
The fate of Tucson PEG channels and Cities' control of the rights of way now rests with the Governor.

Despite the best efforts of many, both the State House and Senate passed HR 2812, the Cox Cable relief bill. The only remaining hope to stop this terrible legislation is with the Governor. Please contact Governor Napolitano and urge her to VETO HB 2812. She must hear from you before Monday!

Contact the Governor's office in Tucson at 628-6580 or by email at jlesher@az.gov and make sure she understands how you value the PEG channels and why you believe that the state should not interfere with the rights of the City of Tucson to negotiate the best possible cable television license renewal possible. Also let her know that this bill is so poorly crafted that it will likely have many unintended consequences to the detriment of Cities and Citizens all over Arizona. There are many questions that have been raised about language in this bill and very few answers.

We appreciate the help of most of our Southern Arizona delegation who valiantly voted NO on this bill. Ted Downing offered an amendment to the bill which would have permitted the City of Tucson to opt out, but it did not pass. Other legislators also worked behind the scenes to try to protect the voice of the people on cable.

Please do what you can today!
