LOCAL ACTION ON SOCIAL SECURITY
NEW REPORT TO BE RELEASED:
PRESIDENT’S SOCIAL SECURITY PLAN WOULD JEOPARDIZE
ECONOMIC SECURITY OF ARIZONA RESIDENTS

Phoenix, AZ - If cuts projected in the Social Security privatization proposal supported by President Bush were in effect today, the effects would be disastrous for both the people and the economy of Arizona.

The release of these findings by the Arizona Leadership Institute (ALI) and the Institute for America’s Future come as President Bush is continuing his push to privatize the Social Security Trust Fund.

“This report shows that Arizonans of all ages will lose under the President’s proposal,” said Joel Foster, Executive Director of ALI. “Cuts of this magnitude, especially to a program that is definitely not in crisis, would be devastating for all of Arizona’s citizens.”

WHAT: The Arizona Leadership Institute and the Institute for America’s Future will hold a news conference to release the new report, “Privatization = $152,000 cut in Social Security checks for typical Arizonan.”
