Gallery owners hope Outside artists inspire local creativity
interesting article if you are into the arts
as am i....

http://www.adn.com/life/story/6694590p-6581500c.html

"We all know the plot: A loner rides into town and inspires the townsfolk to courage and greatness. He turns average players into champions, victims into leaders, cowards into heroes. He wears a cloak of mystery and worldliness, and he sheds wisdom like dust and old skin.

In short, he nudges the town into a place more resilient, compassionate, enlightened and just. Or was it the other way around?

Outsiders and insiders learn from each other, and that's why three contemporary art galleries in Anchorage decided to show art from New York City, Los Angeles and Portland, Ore., this month, even as tourists plunder craft and gift shops for regional art that looks the part."

1. Very cool Cleofus~
Who did the picture you put on your post? Very awesome!

Not the same type of art.. but it was neat watching Wyland (the sealife mural artist) in action a week or so ago at the museum. Wow- he's incredible! :o :o :o

I hope he does another mural in Anchorage some day! (Here's the one downtown in the winter.) Looks like a carving of an Alaska railroad car in front of it?
