"GOVERNOR: Though not declared, ex-Wasilla mayor tells some she wants top job.

JUNEAU -- Former Wasilla mayor Sarah Palin has filed a letter of intent to run for state office in 2006.

Palin, a Republican, filed with the Alaska Public Offices Commission on Monday. The letter does not require Palin to say which office she will seek, but allows her to begin raising campaign money.

Attempts by The Associated Press to reach Palin on Tuesday for comment were not immediately successful.

Palin, however, told radio talk show host Mike Porcaro that she was running for governor. KTUU Channel 2 also reported that she told its reporter it was the governor's job she was after."

1. snip
"...As chairwoman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, she called for state Republican Party Chairman Randy Ruedrich's resignation from the commission in 2003 over ethics violations.

Ruedrich resigned under increasing pressure that November, and Palin stepped down two months later. Ruedrich later admitted to three violations of the state Ethics Act and was fined $12,000.

Palin's filing adds another layer to a still-murky picture of next year's governor's race. Republican Gov. Frank Murkowski has not said whether he plans to run for re-election.

If he doesn't, state Sen. Ralph Seekins has said he would consider running. Anchorage businessman and former Republican legislator Andrew Halcro has said he too is planning to run."

2. Palin..
She definitely has name recognition.. but I guess I don't keep up on what Republicans around here think, because I didn't know the R's didn't like her.. Who knew!?

SoooOOo.. the news says she hasn't decided if she'll run as a Rethug or an Independent.

Any guesses on whether she'll run as an R or an I?

I wanted Fran Ulmer to be our first female governor! :( I still think Governor Ulmer would be awesome!! :headbang:
