<snip>
"I don't look at it as censorship," says State Representative Gerald Allen. "I look at it as protecting the hearts and souls and minds of our children."

But in book after book, Allen reads what he calls the "homosexual agenda," and he's alarmed.

2. Under the cover of "Gay Books" I can see the wacko right using this
to ban books like "Harry Potter" series because it is part of the "gay agenda"... Just IMHO....

pit bulls about that sort of thing and are always on the prowl for censorship anywhere, anytime.

Methinks some of your local librarians have already taken up the sword about his, and can help you fight it.

Or, you can help them fight it.

6. O.K. and thus begins a fledgling criminal industry.
At some point in the near future I suspect enterprising indivduals to begin smuggling outlawed books into backward states across the south.

The Bandit rides again!

"Attention Bandit, this is Smokey, if ya got any ideers 'bout smugglin' homo buuks inta ma state you gatta nutha thing comin'!"

Idea's, more powerful than moonshine, and twice as dangerous.

I heard that sonofabitch wanted to ban Shakespeare! Shakespeare for fuck sake!

They've already targeted talk radio hosts, poets, country singers, photographers, artists, public television shows and execs now playwrights and novelists. Who will they come after next?

They've targeted arabs, they've targeted the poor, they've targeted peace activists, they targeted Democrats and fellow Republicans, Vets and now gays. There trying to go after the internet.

Who will be the next group they isolate and attempt to silence?

8. the bill is dead
•House Education Committee did not have enough members show up to hold its last scheduled meeting of the legislative, which killed a bill to prohibit schools from spending state money on books or other materials that recognize or promote homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle.
