4. I'd be surprised if Edwards did poorly...
..he's the hometown boy, and I'll certainly admit that he's a likable fellow with fairly strong Democratic positions. I am rather surprised at Clark's showing in this though.

6. If Edwards emerges out of Iowa and NH
with any type of momentum, he will be a challenger to Dean in the South, and may derail Clark completely. Clark needs to be the Southern candidate if he has any hopes of winning the nomination.

9. I agree with that, but Dean's big money machine will overwhelm
Edwards, and that's my gut instinct.

10. Edwards is a bit of a dark horse still,
but there is no question that Dean is the favorite.

The winner of the invisible primary rarely loses the nomination.

14. Edwards is a fine man, one I would be proud to get behind
as a nominee. I was inspired by his speech tonight at the Linn county D. He was great.

Oh, and Dale Todd.............. if you are on.....hey baby, crashed any cool events lately????????????? LOL.

15. "Think Clark's going to do so well in the south? Think again..."
North Caroline cannot be taken as representative of "the south" given that it is John Edwards' home state.

What you mean is "Think Clark's going to do so well in the North Caroline while Edwards is still in the race? Think again..."

I am rather sure that if you took a poll of Arkansas right now Clark would be doing similarly well (though possibly not quite as well because he doesn't have as much pre-existing in-state name recognition of a Senator previously elected by a state).

25. Imagine there was a primary in LA
Now, if there was a poll conducted in Arkansas and Clark had 40% of the vote, and Edwards had 5% of the vote, would you say that Edwards having 5% had nothing to do with Clark being from Arkansas? Would you think that Edwards wasn't going to play well in the south?

After all, LA is 'just next door.'

If so, your understanding of reality is vastly different from mine.

24. I think Clark would do quite well in Arkansas.
Especially considering that it's his home state.

It would be in Clark's best interests to have Edwards knocked-out of the race as soon as possible; they are, to some extent, targeting similar blocs of voters. If Edwards shocks people in Iowa, hmm..

20. sorry, but as a native NC'er
Edwards is a big disappointment. Down on my list, and has let us down by not keeping his senate seat viable.
Clark could do well.
Dean can commiserate with Edwards.

and your poll? that's an online poll right?
broken link.

26. I'm taking that poll with a grain of salt.
146 polled from Charlotte
149 from Raleigh Durham
102 from Greensboro/Winstom Salem
the rest from the NE/SE/W

80% white
20% black

whatever...sorry, that is not a good sample of NC.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

36. Edwards is leading in his homestate and Dean a strong second
Edwards has slipped a bit but still has a 14-point lead. Dean is solidly in second and would get a boost if he actually did that well vs. Edwards in his homestate, plus a good share of delegates.

Talk about a worthless poll. This will be far more meaningful after Edwards drops out post-South Carolina, and his once-supporters figure out who they are then for.
