Tomorrow's Jobs Report
and how it will impact the race. Does anyone know much about the report. I think I recall that it's coming out of the White House Council on Economics, which makes it highly suspect. I also recall hearing that it's expected that this report will revise the last three quarters sharply upward.

2. Important Facts to KNOW about the report
The upward revisions are not part of the legitimate independent non-partisan employment report. They are from a WH political office. They are going to be released with the REAL jobs report to confuse people.

The REAL jobs report is about jobs in September 2004, not a year ago.

Economists are expecting 150,000 new jobs. If the report says 175,000 new jobs it will be spun as an upside surprise.

It takes 200,000 new jobs every month JUST TO KEEP PACE WITH POPULATION INCREASES.

3. Thanks so much
for the clarification. I hope the campaign is on top of this. In fact, I think they should spend some time hammering home the partisan and sneaky way this is being done.

4. I keep hearing 1.7 million jobs in 12 months??? Why???
John Kerry really needs to hammer it home - Bush/Cheney have been bragging about 1.7 million jobs in 12 months for a while now. By historical standards, that is fucking pitiful! (excuse my, ahem, French!) - an average month under Bill Clinton was about 240,000 jobs, meaning almost 2.9 million for an average 12 month period. Creating 1.7 million jobs in 12 months is a Net Job Deficit of 100,000 to 700,000 depending on the economist (Paul Krugman usually says 150K-175K are needed monthly)

Why does nobody call them on this?
