1. Not bad at all
Looks like the Pew poll is an outlier.

3. Those are fundamentals
IIRC the last CBS poll had Kerry down quite a bit.

8. I'm glad its a tie, but i don't really trust polls that
fluctuate that easily. I think it was probably tied or at least close all along, but the dem/repub balance was out of wack in previous polls.

6. Now 3 polls show 8 point bounce, two no bounce
CBS, Newsweek, USA Today/Gallup have a Kerry gain of 8 points.

Pew shows no change, but some underlying favorable factors for Kerry.

Wa-Po show a 1 point gain for Kerry.

I was not expecting such a big bump so soon. I thought the change would take time to digest. Key is that people are having a more favorable image of Kerry now, particularly on security. This is HUGE! I figure Kerry will get more gains as days go on from this, especially if he holds his own in future debates to reinforce the positive impression he has gained by the first debate.

It is not Kerry's election, and Bush has to pray for a goof on Kerry's part in my view.

9. actually, the 8 point bounces aren't real
The polls that show bounces that big mostly reflect shifts in the number of dems and repubs sampled. This CBS poll probably has more dems in it than previous ones.

5. Beware of the polls. Fight like we're significantly down.
We're quick to cheer when polls go our way, but if they show * with a large lead, we call it ridiculous and biased. IMO, all polls are crap. Let's keep up the good fight.

7. Contrast that to ABC Washington Post Poll: Bush 51, Kerry 46
What a crock.

is probably tied right now. Turnout will decide this election.
