Should we vote a straight DEM ticket?

I think I'm going to vote all DEM this year. When Kerry wins, I want the House and Senate so he won't be impeached his first 3 weeks in office.

I think if we do that, it will send a BIG message to all the repugs that the people are pissed!

3. Depends on who's running locally

I always vote Democratic on federal races, but if a Green is running against an otherwise unopposed Republican locally, I vote for them. Hasn't happened too often, but Adam Benedetto (G) did really well in the last Dane Co. Sheriff's race, for example (with no Democrat running).

Normally, I wouldn't vote for someone just because they are Dem, but this time, hell yes. In the past I've always tried to look at candidates individually, especially in local contests. This time, I'm going to fly through my ballot picking Dems only. I can hardly wait.

12. In my opinion, the Republican Party should be destroyed.

Legally and peacefully, of course, but yes, I think we need to vote them out of every single office everywhere, so that they serve as a lesson to future generations that a slide into fascism will not be tolerated in this country. We've already put down two conservative parties, the Federalists and the Whigs, and though I don't know much about those other ones, I imagine the Republican Party is worse.

In NC, if you vote straight ticket, it doesn't include the Presidential race or the judicial seats that are being contested. You have to select the president separately and the judicial seats are not included because they want the judges to be non-partisan. You have to vote for them separately as well. I think that's bullshit because all it does is keep the voters from knowing what party they are associated with. Doesn't change their political ideology.

I like what the Green Party stands for but believe they cannot accomplish anything starting from the top. They have to develop viable stronge candidates on the local level before they can have a hope of making any impact onthe state or national level.

We need to clean house. Jim Leach's vote against the war was a sham. There were 7 bills in his comittee and 4 of them had a shot to go to the floor. He voted to send a couple there and then voted against the ones that would have slowed down the process of Bush racing to war. When the final vote comes and he knows it is going to pass, he votes against the war so it appears that he is the anti war candidate when in fact he knew it was a win for bush and the agenda. If you vote straight Dem you get Dave Franker and Art Small. Tom Fiegen, Mike Owen are eastern Iowa guys that we are working for. There has been a concerted effort to spread false voting rumors against Tom and Mike's opponent is using his lines when he doesn't know what to say in a debate or answering questions. It is unbelievable!

I normally vote for a fairly random mix, especially in local elections. However, this time the entire Replublican party needs to be PUNISHED for giving us W when there were so many other, less... inanse choices.

Some of you want to vote for individuals. Well here's a little bit of Will Rogers common sense for you: when you vote for any Republican, you are reinforcing an organized party controlled from the top by religious extremists and extremely wealthy people who want you to share more of their tax burden. When a Republican bucks the radical religious neoconservative trend, that Republican is marginalized within the party and you, the constituent, are marginalized with that Republican.

If you want to select individuals, you'd better select individuals who aren't part of an organized party. That's us, the Democrats.

McCain is playing the Republican party line during the election, like many of the Dems are. Though he has several times broken alegience with Bush and the RNC to defend Kerry.

I actually give him credit for his actions during the elections.

I believe that he believes he can't "take back" the Republican party after Bush loses... if he doesn't play the role of Republican party leader at election time.

He may be selfishly angling for another run for President, but I'm ok with that. In fact I support that, I want the GOP to move back toward the middle.

McCain needs support for that to happen.

Look at the Illinois senate election. The moderate Jack Ryan dropped out, and Alan Keyes got picked, and now he's got less than 30% of the vote (maybe even less than 20%, I'm not sure). If it takes a moderate to win in Arizona, then only a moderate will win.

That's my point... Bush leaving in 04 will create a failure vaccuum and a power vaccuum in the Republican party. That creates an opportunity for a reformer like McCain. I'm going to support that reform rather than throw away (so to speak) a vote on a Dem who doesn't stand a chance yet.

I want to see what McCain can do in a post-Bush Republican party. I want to help (with what little I can do to) give him a mandate of support for making those changes.

If I have the choice between a Democrat who won't even come close to winning and a Republican who will take back the party from the Neo-Cons, I'm going to use my vote to support reforming the Republican party.

To me, it's an incremental step toward a more moderate and more liberal democracy (working from the center rather than the left, in a sense).

Next time around, if McCain fails to take hold the the GOP, then it will be time to consider voting against him. But this time around, I believe he needs, deserves and has earned my support.

decided, sadly, that I MUST vote ALL Democratic. Even though the person I know is a fine family court judge, she is Republican. I anguished over this decision. I decided I had to vote ALL DEM., since if I voted for anyone else, it would help to put Republicans in power, who in turn would help to raise money for and put other Repubs in power. So, at least for this year, it's too important...I'm voting Dem. all the way.

Also, since I live in a Repub state, if there is no Dem. challenger to a particular Repub incumbent, I'll vote for whoever is running against him/her (Green Party, Independent, whatever). If no challenger. I will not vote for that position at all.
