Remember that Time poll that had Dean within 5 of Bush?

Around the first of the year, a CNN/Time poll had Bush at 51% and Dean at 46%. It didn't stay around for long. It was suplanted in the media a couple of days later with a CNN/USA Today poll that had Bush with a 16 point lead over Dean.

The first poll was explained away as an anomoly. CNN's Bill Schneider even chalked it up to people having been in an exceptionally good holiday mood when the first poll was taken. The 16 point lead was the one to believe, we were told.

Surprise!

The new Newseek poll suggests that the 16 point margin may have been the "outlier." Dean's within 8 of Bush. He's not the closest though. Here's how they stack up:
