Spent the last 3 1/2hrs. registering voters in NC.
Outside a WalMart. Suburbs of Charlotte.

Over 60 registered in that short time and not ONE registered as a Republican. All Dems except for 4 who registered as Unaffiliated.

I think the draft issue is getting out there and motivating young men to vote.

2. Excellent News...Whereabouts?
Also any other demographics you can share...age, race, and so on.

Seems like there's a solid last-minute crunch in the non motor-voter states this weekend. That's very, very, very good news to hear, and thanks for your hard work!

12. About half black, half white, most 20-35, some elderly change of addresses
and new residents. Equal men and women.

5. One Charlottean to another...
(I assume you're in Charlotte)

I'm hoping for a Kerry victory here! I see lots of bumper stickers, lots of signs...

7. I registered people to vote on Thursday
and will do so tomorrow and next Saturday.

Today I stopped by a registration table with Kerry-Edwards stickers. A young white male walked by too rapidly for anyone to respond and said belligerently, "I'm voting for Bush."

That happened on Thursday as well.

On Thursday, I said very calmly to one man's back, "I'm for the brave soldier."

Next time I may say, quite solicitously, to a young white male, "Good luck when you're drafted to fight in Iraq."

These men don't get it: They think that Bush is standing up for the white male's dominance. They don't realize that Bush will do what he always does when push comes to shove, Hide.

9. The draft issue is motivating their parents, too
It's good to hear that NC is like the rest of the country, with huge gains for Democrats and Indies, and little for GOPers, even with some dishonest people registering folks as GOP without their knowledge.

The huge increase in the number of registered voters is NOT good news for the Bush cartel. I just hope all those folks are angry enough to get to the polls on November 2.

13. You must be tired
I handed out Kerry baloons in the town homecoming parade today then registered people to vote and gave stickers out, I would have prefered to do more but I was exhausted.

14. Thank you!
I will be participating in a BIG beachwalk on Fort Lauderdale Beach tomorrow. It will include county parks and several beaches. We usually get lots of new registrants and they are mostly dems. Last chance to do it here in Florida as the last day to register is Oct. 4th.
