Help Crawford, TX newspaper survive RW attack...

This is on the homepage at the moment, but I want to be sure it gets greater visibility.

The Crawford newspaper that endorsed Kerry is being hit with subscription cancellations and may not survive.

Whoever next calls their phone number, see if you can get a PO Box, or other snail mail, address for them, to which donations can be sent, and find out whom checks should be made out to (Lone Star Iconoclast???). I'd call them myself, and will tomorrow if necessary; but today is impossible.

I asked what kind of help he needed - he said if people could subscribe or place ads it would be a big help. I told him people might want to just outright donate and he said that would be outstanding.

Has anyone emailed the Iconoclast suggesting they put a donation option on their website?

Let's suggest that Kerry make mention of the endorsement somewhere in his remarks next debate. I don't know if it's a good idea for him to bring up the fact that the paper is losing subscribers. After all, that is a subscriber's right. I just think it would make great copy for him to mention the endorsement, being damn sure to tell people that the paper is in Crawford, TX!

9. I just ordered 2 subscriptions, and

the guy there was VERY grateful! His voice was kinda shaking when he thanked me. I asked him if he was getting any subscription orders, and he said a few. It's $45 for a year's mailed subscription. I know it's expensive, but if we let the wingers shut down all the voices for reason, we're doomed. They've already declared war on AAR....so, folks, it's just $45 more (yikes, this is turning into an expensive election for me! Oh well.)

DUers can buy ads on their website for as little as $20 for a week. With some of the graphic savvy around here, a collaborative effort could be fun, clever, informative - and a small boon to the Iconoclast.
