My father and the debates.
My father is a liberal who, possibly becuase of his upbringing, believes the right-wing spin on everything (he'd hate that I called him a liberal).

I had a meeting last night and I didn't get home until 10PM. I asked my father how the debate was going. He said, and I quote:

"Kerry is getting killed. It's like Kennedy/Nixon, only worse."

I went upstairs, totally depressed. The election is lost, I thought.

First I read the comments of DUers. Sure, we think Kerry won, but can I really trust that?

Then I visited some right-wing sites.

It was with great glee that I sent my father an e-mail today entitled "Ding-dong the witch is dead", containing links to all of the various newspapers and websites proclaiming Kerry the winner by a landslide.

My father is too stubborn to ever admit that he was wrong to support Bush. But I think today I got him one step closer to not voting. And that is progress, my friends. That is progress.

2. Were we separated at birth?
Your dad sounds suspiciously like my dad!
:-)

He's also considering not voting.

5. My dad is like that too.
You always have to prove certain things to him. Just can't take your word for it, so glad you provided your dad some kind of proof that Kerry won the debate. :) Hopefully, I have faith, that Edwards will do the same to Cheney on Tuesday.

6. That is terrible that
he thought Kerry lost! The worst I am having to deal with is that everyone says it was a tie (WTF?). Shouldn't it have been obvious to everyone? Keep fighting the good fight! I was very upset today, I talked to dozens of people and kept getting the "it was pretty even" meme. Either that or --Kerry had style but Bush had substance--WHERE did that one come from?
