Bush's arrogance: A couple of years ago, I heard some reporter say that
Bush's arrogance would be his downfall. That did not make sense to me at the time - I knew Bush was arrogant, but I could not see how it could be his downfall.

Now I see what the reporter was talking about. Bush's arrogance makes him think his opinions are above questioning. When they are questioned, he gets hostile. Now that arrogance and hostility has been displayed before the whole world.

1. Remember this Bush quote: I'm the President, I don't have to answer
questions.

3. James Wolcott said much the same
"Last night I believe we saw the ugly comeback of the private face of Bush--the irritable expressions he flashes subordinates when he's presented with information he doesn't like or feels someone's taken up too much of his time or is pressed to explain himself to people he shouldn't have to explain himself to because he's the president and fuck you."

Yeah, there's profanity there -- but anyone who watched Bush's face twist & & contort last night knows he was thinking far worse.

5. "I know how the world works."
That, as Ann Richards pointed out, was the most important moment of last night for me.

Shut the fuck up; I'm better than you, and don't bother me with your crap. He's mean and haughty, and you're exactly right.

George W. Bush is the most powerful nobody since Louis the Sixteenth.

7. He functions poorly for someone who knows so much!
That's what I thought when he said that last night. "I know how the world works." Then how come the world hates you, shrimpy?

8. I really hate that look he gets on his face
it's half smirk, half (pick one)"do you know who I am/why doesn't everyone just do what I say/there is no questioning my authority/how could the truth be anything other than what I say it is."
