10. Checkout this bullshit line from the story:
Kerry also didn't appear to sweat. The debate rules dictate that the temperature had to be 70 degrees — a plus for Bush, who loves the heat of central Texas. Kerry, who tends to sweat, reportedly wanted the room cooler.

So Kerry hates to sweat and Bush loves it? What marons. :eyes:

11. Josh Marshall called Faux for comment. Nothing yet.
Marshall asked the Kerry camp if Kerry said those things and they said he most certainly did not.

Faux got caught making stuff up.

12. Probably a "mistake", but...
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 03:41 PM by pelagius
It is common practice for journalists to write up a story in draft form, leaving spaces for quotes and other pertinent information that needs to be added later.

The "placeholders" for the real quotes were filled with the fabricated quotes that represent Faux's slant. Bet the boys in the newsroom busted a gut over these witticisms.

Somebody either jumped the gun on posting the story or "let it happen on purpose" and put the draft on-line.

If this were a reputable news outlet, I'd be inclined to write it off as an innocent mistake, but since it's Faux, I can't be sure there wasn't some method in their madness.

15. It's been replaced with this.....
Editor's Note

Earlier Friday, FOXNews.com posted an item purporting to contain quotations from Kerry. The item was based on a reporter’s partial script that had been written in jest and should not have been posted or broadcast. We regret the error, which occurred because of fatigue and bad judgment, not malice.

16. So who is Carl Cameron?
Carl Cameron

As chief political correspondent for FOX News Channel (FNC), Carl Cameron is responsible for covering a broad range of stories, including presidential, congressional and gubernatorial elections. Cameron also covers all the breaking political news on Capitol Hill and in the courts.

________

Let me get this straight. The chief political corrEspondent for a major news network made up fake, embarrassing quotes for a man who is running for the presidency? THE CHIEF POLITICAL CORRESPONDENT. He thinks it's cute and it somehow ends up on the website for the news network? Reported as actual news?

I'm going to be pissed if we Democrats don't push this hideous issue. Cameron needs to be fired.

17. That's just stupid
I thought that some junior reporter might be impressed with his own wit and goofing off. I guess a recent college grad given the level of the humor. But from a senior guy, this is inexcusable. It's -- dare I say it? -- bush league.

18. Did you catch Carl Cameron on Outfoxed?
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 04:43 PM by gatorboy
He was caught schmoozing up to ole Bushie during the 2000 election before the actual interview. His wife helped run Bush's first presidential campaign.
That right there should keep him from doing any correspondence on the campaign.
