1. The difference being that Nixcon definitely had intelligence
behind his blinking, nervous, tight-lipped countenance!

2. Wasn't born yet, but remember from school Nixon didn't wear makeup.
Maybe all of the time campaigning in the light of day (unlike those stops in dark, undisclosed locations) helped Kerry look hearty and hale last night.

4. Nixon refused make-up
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 11:08 AM by annabanana
These guys were of the 'pre-tv' generation. The THOUGHT of a guy wearing make-up was just for theatre & movie actors. JFK knew more about the new medium and was ok with it.

Nixon looked pale and sick, as well as sweaty.

3. No, But I Heard a Lot of the Debate on CSPAN Radio
and I have to agree the conventional wisdom that those who heard it on radio thought Nixon won.

Nixon had command of the facts and defended his points well. Bush might as well have walked out on stage, shrugged, and said "I got nuttin."

6. Nixon looked sweaty, nervous and a little menacing.
But he wasn't unprepared and inarticulate like The Chimpinator. People who saw the debate on TV thought Kennedy won. Those who listened on the radio thought Nixon won. But in last night's debate you could have figured out the winner from a radio broadcast, even though you would have missed all the fidgeting and scowling. Nixon was a smart guy. B*sh isn't.
