A quick note-- I was strong supporter before, but even more now. If possible. Below is the body of letter I wrote for the JK media corps. Feel free to make improvements and suggestions. I tend to ramble, and don't mind critiques at all. So gimme hell..B-)
----------------- I must say I was pleasantly surprised by tonight's debate. I was concerned that the rules would keep us from seeing clear differences between the candidates. How wrong I was! It clearly showed the stark difference in styles and skills of the two men. Kerry showed that he could clearly explain complex issues in concise term, and did so with extreme skill and conviction. Any doubts anyone could have had that Kerry is capable of analysing the reality on the ground and skilfully coming up with a better plan to deal with issues as they evolve. In contrast, Bush kept repeating the same slogans over and over, often complaining how "hard" it was to be president. He also misrepresented Kerry's positions several times, as well as repeating the "100,000 trained Iraqi police" lie which has been thoroughly debunked. The overall impression was one of arrogance and denial.
While I was a soft supporter of Kerry before, because of being betrayed by this administration, I was unsure if John Kerry could explain policies at a simple enough level for most Americans to understand. Even though it is clear that he is more qualified, Americans need someone they respect; and the right wing TV and talk radio hacks will attack him relentlessly. Therefore, I was concerned that Kerry might not connect with enough people to diffuse these attacks and unite America to brace us for the challenges ahead. I now am totally convinced that he is fully qualified to give us a fresh start in Iraq and around the world, to undo the damage to our loss of our good reputation after Bush's misleading PR push for the Iraq war. Kerry showed that he can communicate to the American people the difficult task that the future holds. We must have the ability to focus and prioritise our limited resources, and cooperate with our allies in a long conflict with radical ideologues seeking nuclear weapons materials. John Kerry proved to me that he has the potential to be the greatest leader we have had for generations
