We've got two more Debates....why gnaw our Fingers off over this one?
Edited on Thu Sep-30-04 05:56 PM by KoKo01
Kerry has plenty of time to defeat the "Dragon." He can do it. I'd rather Kerry come out "neutral" tonight and build to the KILL than place all my hopes on this "first" debate.

We know the "Polls" are skewed...so if we remain calm, and look on this as just a debate (notice all small letters) then we aren't going to look for some damned TEAM to win tonight.

Can we all just calm down...I'm not even going to watch TV Media...maybe some of you should do the same?

OMG...my spelling has gone to hell...Knaw...or whatever I posted...many apologies... I think it's Senile Dementia...coming on early.

GNAW ...but maybe I should just go to my dictionary...ugh.

1. Maybe Because The Audience Gets Smaller With Each Debate
The only way the audience will get bigger is if Kerry delivers a knockout ala Mondale in 1984 and then people will tune in to see if AWOL can recover....

2. Much like the Dem primary campaign was all but over after Iowa...
.... Kerry may well be done like dinner if he markedly fails.

Kerry cannot overcome an abysmal performance, unlike Bush -- who has proven for nigh on 4 years that he is immune to his own incompetence.

Double-standards abound.

10. Yes...but if that much of America is so "uneducated & easily manipulated"
then where the hell are we?

Edmund Burke had it right when he said "we must take man as he is not the way we want him to be."

16. We're screwed.
I thought we all knew that.

But if we want to take the "glass half-full" perspective, remember that it has taken a complicit, lazy media and right-wing takeover of talk radio to get the convservatives to the point where they are just close enough to steal elections.

17. I will not give in to "skewed." I won't ...I get angry, depressed, but
they will have to seal all of us in a box and drop us farther than "Deep 6" to get rid of us.

We will prevail...inspite of our "up's and down's." I think we will do it MLK, Gandi..and the history of those "who made a difference" comes into play here.

The "resistors" do have an edge..after all is said and done.

3. Because this is going to be the most widely viewed of the three.
The topics of discussion are also going to be some of the most important of this election.

I won't fret about the debates one bit. This isn't Scrub's territory. Never lost a debate, BS. This guy has never BEEN in a real debate, much less won one. This is Kerry in his element.

The only thing we have to fear is, as usual, media spin.

25. You think if it doesn't go well for us...Americans will tune out to other
debates because they figure "it's done?"

Maybe...I like to think we are more intelligent than the "media" portray us..but a faint maybe...

If America is all about THE GAME...and SPORTS...and WIN FIRST or you are DEAD...then maybe you are correct.

I wish I had the wisdom to know...but you make a "practical" point...you might be correct.

This is the most Boosh-friendly of the three.
He'll blow off the other two on some excuse or another.

5. Isn't this the only 'debate' focused on foreign affairs and homeland security,
rather than on domestic issues?

Unless Kerry shows * to be a liar, a fraud, and a pretender about "Security Moms'" concerns, it's all over. And tonight is Kerry's best chance to break through relentless WH fearmongering and lying about Kerry's alleged "weakness and unreliability" on security matters.

6. A good point there....his best chance to "set the tone." didn't think of
that. However...much more about Bush scandals could be revealed in the days ahead...so if Kerry "fluffs" this one...he still has a chance to make it up...:eyes:

11. "THEY" won't tune in anymore...feeling Kerry blew it after one look, so
Bush is the one..Strong on Defence..the guy you can trust because he "never wavers from a position once taken."

Yeah...I know folks who would look at it this way...

13. If Kerry Lets Bush Do To Him What His Father Did To Dukakis
and what Reagan did to Carter I'll tune out the rest of the election...

I'm eager to vote in FL because Betty Castor will be a great senator....

30. Dukakis wasn't so bad a guy...he might have been a good Pres...but
I saw that pix of him in that helmet and as a Dem...I thought..OMG the Repugs drove him to put on that helmet and look like Snoopy so he could look like he was PRO Military...

You see the War Mongers were still at us Dems....because they blamed us for pulling out of Vietnam with our Kerryite posturers and bombs and music and protests against the killing of our fellowmen (only men, then) in Vietnam.

The F**ing Repug Warmongers who kept their precious kiddies home at Harvard/Yale and in Private School still trashed us Dems and tarred us with "ANTI WAR" when in fact we were always against "PRE-EMPTIVE STRIKE..and WAR WITHOUT A REASON!

But no DEM ever seems to want to say that for us...they fear the "weenie" tar brush of Repugs who accuse them of being soft.

Didn't Roosevelt say: "speak softly but carry a big stick?" or was it Truman...we actually had Pres in the past who were "conflicted" and even thought they were run by the same depraved "war maniacs" they managed to hobble along.

8. First debate
will set the tone for the rest of them and the media will compare all the rest with the first one. It's important that Kerry take the first because of those reasons. If Kerry loses this one he can't recover. (IMO) :-(

12. First Impressions Mean a Lot
And for many people, non-political types, this will be the first good look they will have of Kerry.

And the audience will, for the 1st time see these 2 guys next to each other, & form an opinion.

People are looking for an alternative to Bush; if they like Kerry tonight, he will probably win the election.

If they don t like Kerry, I think its over.

14. It is more important for Kerry than Bush right now
It is viewed as *'s to lose, so if Kerry was to do poorly, they will not take him as seriously nest time. If he does good, more people will listen to what he has to say next time.

What pisses me off is that there is no exchange between them, so we never get to see * get red in the face saying "Let me finish, let me finish"...he always looks like such an ass when he does that.

20. Actually we don't have plenty of time.
But even if we had all the time in the world; the last thing we need is Kerry being "neutral". Everything is at stake here, no slacking allowed.

23. No place to run.
Bush has nobody to talk for him here, no surrogates, no ass kissing audience, no way to avoid the confrontation.

Kerry will crush him like a beer can under a Hell's Angel's boot.

Just sit in your favorite chair and watch it happen.

that as far as most Americans are concerned, this debate is the one the actually matters. The other 2 are important but this one is the most important. I don't have any proof of this, only my opinion.

27. This one's important because Bush has said that if
the rules are broken, he won't be in the other 2 debates, so if Kerry looks good and doesn't break any rules, then Bush will have to go through with the other two and one is on the domestic problems in America and that one will be very important also.

tone for the rest of them.
