16. Nader is a joke-he did this back in 2000
At least in 2000, he was a little bit more real. Now Nader is nothing but a sad and pathetic joke.

22. in 2000
they fucked him over. In Boston he had an audience ticket and they wouldn't even let him in, the police threatened to arrest him if he didn't leave. He should have been included but the two parties took over the debates which were traditionally run by the League of Women Voters and raised the bar to keep out third party candidates. The LOWV were outraged, but that is where we stand today. If anyone thinks that is Democratic then maybe we deserve the mess we are in.

17. Nader should've organized a "Debate for Democracy"...
Edited on Thu Sep-30-04 06:22 PM by krkaufman
... with some of the other third-party candidates. Perhaps organized through the League o' Chick Voters.* I'd love to hear the "fringe" candidates debating each other... and some of their comments might actually find their way to the media, and maybe even influence the Dem/Rethug campaigns.

(My thought is, if Ralph is so upset about not being in tonight's debate, did he make an effort to unify with the other third party candidates to formally protest in any way? I see no reason why they're not having a parallel debate, either concurrent or an hour or day before.)

I watched a PBS show last night, called 'Crashing the Parties', that took a look at the primary campaigns of a few of the more well-known third parties:

Crashing the Parties 2004
This special gives voters a behind-the-scenes look at third party campaigns in the 2004 presidential race, showcasing the major political alternatives to the Democrats and Republicans. The one-hour program focuses on four 'major' third party/independent bids: Libertarian Party (Michael Badnarik), Green Party (David Cobb), Constitution Party (Michael Peroutka) and Ralph Nader.

Upcoming airings (on my station):
Monday, October 4, 3:00am
Tuesday, October 5, 10:00pm
Monday, October 11, 12:30am
Tuesday, October 12, 2:30am
