What if Terry McAuliffe sent out e-mails to Dems mocking Georgia rubes?
Edited on Thu Sep-30-04 01:20 PM by BurtWorm
Unthinkable, isn't it? But Ed Gillespie sent this e-mail out last week (I just saw it checking my dummy e-mail box for my GOP Team Leader account ;) :

"The centerpiece of the Kerry campaign's "character based critique," Boston-speak for character assassination, is based on a discredited news report that was based on the criminal activity of someone who mocked up and forged documents."

Am I being too sensitive to be appalled by the idea that the chairman of the RNC can get away with denigrating an American city in this way? We all know that McAuliffe could never refer to "Salt Lake City-speak" or "Dallas-speak." He'd be accused of showing contempt for Americans. But here this asshole is using the name of the cradle of American liberty as shorthand for "commie."

Republicans disgust me. :grr:

1. It's Hate-Speak Code
It's the same old BS we've been dealing with since Reagan. Repukes always use some bastion or symbol of liberalism to appeal to the "My Granddaddy was in the Klan" folks.

2. Okay, but how did we get to this state of affairs in which Repubs

are permitted to openly mock certain American states and cities--I mean, let's be real, it's Massachusetts that they consistently denigrate. (No doubt it's rooted in the "Don't blame me I'm from Massachusetts" past, this Republican disgust for MA.) But they also created an ad tearing into Vermonters when Howard Dean was a threat. They openly bait their rube base's fear of the Enlightened East. But if Democrats were to mock Republican strongholds--which are actually nice, big fat targets worthy of being mocked--we'd never hear the end of it!
