The Dean-Clark Switch: Good Enough for Billionaires
Edited on Sat Dec-20-03 08:29 AM by Jack_Dawson
http://tinyurl.com/32ou5

WASHINGTON -- Left-wing billionaire investor George Soros, who appeared to support Howard Dean for president, now is privately expressing doubts about the Democratic Party's front-runner.

In conversations with political friends, Soros confided he has become alarmed by Dean's recent performance and wonders whether the former Vermont governor is capable of defeating George W. Bush. In one such chat, Soros suggested he is interested in retired Gen. Wesley Clark.

Do it! Do it!

Like we've been saying all along, we extend a warm welcome to all new and future recruits - and if that includes Madonna and George Soros, so be it.:hi:

"Buck-Up and Suck Up" as James Carville would say.

The knife is too short..... or just a dull blade going into the backs of Deanies.

2. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Soros can't give anymore to a candidate than you or I, so he will need to focus on issues rather than individuals. So the thing to look at is what Soros says on the issues, and which candidates seem to agree. Then his money will reinforce their chances.

5. Bob Novak?
"In conversations with political friends..."

So Novak is "reporting" what a friend of a friend "heard" from George Soros.

6. That's great news, if it's true. It's certainly plausible.
Soros is no fool - and he really wants to get AWOL out.

7. Why All the Hostility?
People quote Novak when it suits them - I've seen plenty pro-Dean citations from Novak posted here. The point being, bilionaires don't get to be where they are by making poor decisions. Billionaires tend to have pretty clear vision. So obviously if someone in Soros' position is mulling a switch to Clark - that would fall under the category of "good thing" for Clarkies.

I'm ashamed of the content and right wing tactics used by some here.

Such behavior really turns me off of the other candidates. If Dean does not get the nomination, which it is now his to loose.....I will not donate one penny to the other candidate. I've given $1,200 to Dean already and planning on another $600 next week.

It has been the posts here at DU that have really offended me .....
I sense some of them are actually part of the other candidates pit-crew.....

12. Good enough for many. meet-up doesn't unsubscribe so, anyone who ever
supported *D is still counted there - including the huge "I left Dean on 9 seventeen" Their numbers are as phony as the money connection to actual support (some of it is from Rove's people).

17. Newsflash: Novak Wants Dean to Win the Nomination
Just like the vast majority of other pukes do, for obvious "matchup" reasons. So if even NOVAK is reporting that Soros is mulling a switch to Clark, there is probably a degree of truth to it.

Don't shoot the messenger people - we're all in this together. Jeeesh.

18. Clark is the poster boy for the liberal rich
He's been backed by some of the nation's most powerful investors from the beginning of his campaign. *sigh..But it's better to have wealthy with a sense of noblesse oblige influencing the government than the current crop who have no oblige at all.

Ummm...Sir? Soros was for Dean a few days ago. Was Dean, therefore, a "poster boy for the liberal rich"??? Oh dear. This is what we're up against. Ourselves.

19. Clark is the Bush Pentagon and MIC Candidate
That is why we raise hell about what appears to be intentional "cloaking" of your source.

It is also why there is such hostility.

Clark made millions while working for Bush-Backer the Stephens Group and Axciom.

Those of us who believe he is really just w Republican Wolf in Sheeple clothing MUST stay alert for any dirty tricks or manipulations.

So must the mods and admins.

24. Paranoia Self Destroya
Sir, even the most ignorant and short-sighted person would concede that "military" doesn't equal "republican".

And if you've read the Pentagon's comments about Clark, from his former republican bosses, I think it's safe to say he's not one of "them".

Have you done ANY homework on Clark whatsoever?
