My Note This Morning to Senator Kerry
Senator Kerry,

I wish you well in your debate with President Bush tomorrow night. If you indeed know how much many of us are counting on you, as your email to supporters today says, you will not let the constricted debate format deter your message. Many of us wonder about you, and hope you are not like the Gores, Mondales, Dukakises, and Humphreys before you which your party has sent to slaughter by Republicans with more willingness to win or lose everything when everything is on the line. We hope you do not back or bog down, sir.

Your opponent is more than a man representing a range of opinions; he is a symbol of the intention for this country to rule this planet with an unwavering and unchallenged hand. You must not fail in the face of this threat to every creature on this planet, and I believe you will not fail if you say what deepest in your heart of hearts you feel is right. If you try to protect your own hide, or reputation, or career, we are all lost.

You chose to be in the position you are in, sir. We urge you to live up to the task. The whole world is watching.

Sincerely,
R S, Jr.
