Rasmussen National and Weekly Udates are Awful for 9/29
Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 12:13 PM by louis c
Rasmussen has Bush increase of 2 points from yesterday to Bush 49.1% to Kerry 45.3%. this looks nearly identical to the numbers of 9/22.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com

Weekly Poll for Alabama is Bush 56%-40%, basically unchanged from 55%-39% on 9/22.

Weekly Poll for Wisconsin is Bush 49%-46%, basically unchanged from Bush 50%-47% on 9/22.

Weekly Poll for Virginia is Bush 50%-44%, a 2 point gain from Bush 49%-45% on 9/22.

Weekly Poll for Oregon is Kerry 49%-45%, a 4point Bush gain from Kerry 51%-43% on 9/22.

Monthly Poll for Maryland is Kerry 48%-45%, a ten point bush gain from Kerry 54%-41% on 8/29.

Today is one of those days I hate to post Rasmussen Info. At 5:00 PM EDT, maybe the numbers will be better from the battleground states of Fl, Ohio, Minn, Penn, and Mich.

1. Hmm
Weekly Poll for Wisconsin is Bush 49%-46%, basically unchanged from Bush 50%-47% on 9/22.

So is this saying voters are now going to Nadar? Both * and JK lose a point.

18. To be determined
The WI State Supreme Court will be hearing Nader's appeal tomorrow morning. I actually believe they will allow Nader to be on the ballot.

2. I'm relieved actually about Wisconsin
That is better than the UW Survey Center poll giving Bush a 14-point lead!!

But as you have said many times it takes a few days to see if there is a trend and so far it has been neck and neck and really the poll on Monday will be telling--that will be the first completely after the Thursday debate. I'm hoping Kerry will hit a home run.

4. I don't care how many polls show the race close in Maryland
There's no chance. We are as blue as it gets.

5. The state numbers aren't that bad
Kerry has leads in Oregon and Maryland, and he's only behind by 3 in Wisconsin, which is within the MOE. Also, a 6-point lead for Bush in Virginia isn't bad for Kerry at all. That's a state Bush won by 8 in 2000.

6. No real surprises in this lot.
Wisconsin was always figured to be fang-and-claw.

Interested to see the b.g. states.

15. I'm glad you understand
I love to post positive numbers, but i have to post what rasmussen releases, otherwise i might as well not post at all.

By the way, as a Union official, I'm able to to this as part of my work day, and be paid for it by the company.

It can't get much better than this, can it?

Imagine, participating in DU, and having your boss not only know, but have to pay you for it, too.

God Bless (a unionized) America.

8. The Maryland numbers are nonsense
Kerry bumper stickers here are running 5 to 1 in Kerry's favor. People are fired up. We're sending busloads of Marylanders to campaign for Kerry in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Rasmussen is probably skewing its sample by polling more rethugs than they should.

10. Huum, control of the Polls

Is it just me or have you noticed?

As soon as a poll come out that we believe to be true, that poll turns around and lists big leads for Bush.

It's as if Rove tells them, cute try but we will put you on a small plane if you try that so close to the election.

They are using tricks like never before. These polls do not reflect the energy I see this time!

The new voters are mainly democrats as far as I know.

This is simply amazing to me but I will not let it stop me.

11. lets be honest
Not everything is a Rovian plot - its far more simple than that.
Pollsters have a self interest in creating a close and always changing race - so they do that. Polling is a reliable science - pollsters are as reliable as weathermen.

12. Positive news for *?
Has there been ANY that could explain the numbers going the way they are?

Smells like more "cook the books" courtesy of Rove.

13. Rove is not to blame on this one
As I JUST said, Rove has little to do with it.
Pollsters can oversample certain populations to make results come out differently. Pollsters have to justify their existance and every election they feel they need to remind everyone that theyre useful - so they make things dramatic and they put themselves in the position of retelling all of the drama.

Besides - Bush has nothing to gain by people perceiving that he is in the lead... it will only mobilize Kerry support at the polls.

14. Then why do they keep pushing his lead

If he doesn't want to mobilize the Demo base, just have him tell CNN.
Then they will stop picking and choosing the polls that favor Bush/
