Why the Media is Biased....
Let's take that nutball, Bernard Goldstein, at his word and assume that many in the media are more left leaning. Then, why is it that the "news" and opinions we get is so RIGHT WINGED? For one, when the media reports something that is anti-liberal or anti-democratic (which is most of the time), all that happens is that liberals and democrats get miffed, and express their frustrations in emails and on forum boards such as this one. Now, when an anti-conservative or anti-republican bit comes out of the media (which is getting less and less frequent), the conservatives and republicans coordinate and attack enforce. They destroy careers. They threaten people's wellbeing. They threaten families. They even kill. So, how do you compete with that?

1. The media companies are BIG CORPORATIONS, first and foremost ...
and they do what's good for BIG CORPORATIONS (cozying up to Republicans).

5. It just baffles me that more people don't understand this
I was in a discussion the other day with a Bushevik who is still going on and on about how liberal CBS is. When I brought to his attention that CBS is owned by one of a very few mega-corporations (as are all mainstream news outfits), he just stared at me like I was speaking ancient Greek.

2. They come with fists...

We bring knives. They bring knives, we bring bats. They bring bats, we bring guns.

Or, we could do the enlightened thing and play by the rules, engage them in reasoned debate, activate our base, and kick their dumb asses out of power.

I'm for the latter.

4. What rules?
Whose rules? The "rules" keep changing. They keep making and breaking the rules. Rules? No wonder we are always a step behind. The only time we made any headway was when Clinton's people "punched" the cons in the mouth. We have to be the first mover and then we have to keep the initiative all throughout the game or we lose.

3. well, companies like GE (who own NBC) also make billions on weapons
something that doesn't get covered to much is how much money the media makes under Bush. GE has seen their profits go through the roof b/c of the war, how much are you hearing about it from the "liberal" media?

Fuck'um turn that shit off.
