If Bush 'Wins' the Debate-That's It
If the corporate 'news' media decides overwhelmingly that Bush won Thursday's 'debate' and there is any up movement for Bush in the polls ... that will be it -- Bush will not do anymore debates.

I've read on some blogs that there is still some "memoradum" with the 'debate commission' that the Bush campaign hasn't signed. They'll just say that they cannot reach agreement so the rest of the 'debates' are off.

Does this scenario sound plausible?

Finally, I don't think the Kerry campaign or Kerry supporters need to lower expectations for Kerry ... the corporate 'news' media is doing that now with a vengence.

I think Kerry will win this debate ... but I am so disgusted and angry with the corporate media that I can hardly stand it.

Air America ... Here I come!

3. there's no "if" about it
Kerry will be declared the winner. The whores are already working on their spin.

But don't get angry about it, realize that the media will lose this time and Kerry will win.

Or else do what another DUer suggested, contact the media in advance to preempt their spinning the debate to Bush.

5. this is almost becoming like some staged election
choreographed by the Bush/media whores with some type of prearranged scipt. I will fight for Kerry until Nov. 2nd, but this whole media sellout does not bode well for the future of democracy in the good old USA.

6. First of all...
They are not debates. They are loosely controlled pieces of political advertising.

Secondly, No one can “win”. Each side will say they did well, some on each side will claim a “knockout”, the media will call it a “draw”. Happens every 4 years.

8. The GOP agreed to do three "debates" to get their want-list met...
...things such as higher lecterns, 10 feet apart; no interaction between candidates, etc.

However, as I type this, I realize, "When has the right wing ever made an agreement it didn't think it could break?"

9. For so many, this is the first they see of Kerry
In that way, it's good. Non-political types such as my wife always vote, but also always ignore all the noise leading up to the debates, dismissing it as "politics as usual".

In these debates, particularly the first, many will see and hear John Kerry for the first time. They already know what to expect from our little emperor.

Media bias nonwithstanding, I believe Thursday's debate will help at least a little to sell Kerry to the new "silent majority".
