More good news from Ohio
Election boards hustle to get records in order
Ohio sees many new voters, revised forms

Surveys show the majority of the new voters appear to be Democrats, said Dennis Lieberman, the Democratic Party chairman in Montgomery County. Volunteers have called a significant number of the 25,000 newly registered voters in Montgomery County, and three-quarters have identified themselves as Democrats.

2. That's the same up in NW Ohio
I was phone banking and canvassing the other day. Door to Door we out number them 2-1 and college campuses up this way have mobilized voter registration and have registered pretty much every collge student, most first time voters identifying as Dems.

3. Same in SW Ohio
Hamilton County reports more than 40,000 new registered voters. Most of them coming from ACT and other organizations.

Please, please, please plan to take the day off on November 1 & 2 and participate in GOTV activities in your community. It doesn't do any good to register all these folks if they don't get to the polls.

9. Why would they go to the trouble to register and then not vote?

14. Registering gets the person who's hassling you about registering
out of your face.

What Cokie fails to realize is that we're going to be hassling them on Nov. 2nd if they haven't voted. They'll get a totally harsh guilt trip.

Turnout is going to be huge!

12. I don't believe that
The reason most people I've talked to give for not voting is that they aren't/weren't registered.

18. Cokie et al.
are severely "misunderestimating" (1) the energy and passion of people like you Ohio DUers and (2) the outrage stirred by this administration.

oh, he's a uniter, all right...

16. Maybe not so good news
I heard from my friend in Ohio that the ELection Boards are so short handed that there are bins of voter registrations just piling up waiting to be keyed in. Also the head of the elections board is a Puke who whas made several pro GOP calls lately and is expected to rule in favor of putting Ralph on the ballot there.

It sounds like the makings of another Florida.

17. Tell anyone who has filled out a registration form to
GO AND VOTE. I can't guarantee Ohio is the same but here in PA, as long as you honestly believe you have registered at a particular residence, and you show up at the poll, they have to let you vote "provisionally". That means that after the election they check to confirm your registration and then count your vote. Also it's not a bad idea to photocopy your form, and send it in a way that confirms delivery.
