Has Anyone Recently Met/Seen An Undecided Voter?
I was wondering with debates around the corner, are there any undecided voters left? In prior elections, some people I met seemed to pride themselves on how careful they were in choosing a president. Put another way, folks seemed to actually be deliberating over the choise. Now, I have not met anyone who seems undecided. The debates have not occurred, they are not familiar with the positions of the candidates, but they have already made up their mind.

This is, of course, particularly true with respect to Bush supporters. At least with Kerry, there is at minimum a clear rejection of Bush, but I don't see anyone rushing to Bush because they are afraid of Kerry.

So, in the past four weeks, how many undecided voters have you met?

1. Met one who definitely isn't voting for Bush, but isn't sure about Kerry.
Does that count?

7. Well, I Often Refer To Them As Nader Supporters . . .
They don't want to vote for Bush, so they vote for Nader, who they know absolutely nothing about. I can understand if someone knows Nader, but to use Nader as a protest vote, i.e., "I won't vote for Bush, so I'll vote for Nader because of all those reports being run on Fox" - types.

What I'm wondering is an honest to goodness voter who is undecided between Bush and Kerry. Do they exist?

8. Does the term refer to undecided between Bush and Kerry?
Or just undecided in general? Because if he/she has decided definitively against Bush, the traditional undecided is being courted by both sides, and therefore he/she is not undecided?

5. I called undecided voters and I am happy to report many of the people
that I spoke with were breaking for Kerry but there were a few folks who were on the fence. I don't understand it either. I asked if there is any information you could give them to help make the decision. One person told me she decided not to vote so she could complain no matter who won. Wonderful. They are out there.

11. Exactly one
While phonebanking.

But I think he was less undecided than didn't want to be on the phone or admit that he was not supporting Kerry. In my county, admitting you're supporting anyone but Kerry is pretty much cause for raised eyebrows and sotto voce comments about checking the medication....

12. I talked to a few tonight
I did a couple hours of calling for Kerry and Feingold tonight. Nearly everyone I talked to was firmly decided one way or another, but there were still a few "undecided" and a few who were leaning one way or another. And a few who were just hostile to sweet li'l ol' me saying, "Hi, my name is WyoMee and I'm a volunteer for the Kerry and Feingold campaigns." The language they use these days!!!

13. Yes
His son will be voting in his first election, and is a Kerry boy. His wife is for Kerry. He is leaning toward Bush but claims he has not made up his mind for sure. We work for the same outfit, and the conventional wisdom is that Bush would be better for business. I pointed out some reasons why this may not be the case. He received my arguments politely and thoughtfully, not like someone who has already made up his mind; he made no defense for Bush's side.
