Good news/bad news...

First the bad news: the NRA has a pretty tough (read absolutely 99% lying crap) video hatchet job on Kerry. I saw it Saturday night. It was "anchored" by Wayne LaPierre, NRA President.

Among the lies: Kerry voted for a bill that would put you in jail if a juvenile stole your gun and committed a crime.

But, most disturbing were the appearances of ordinary working class folks who have swallowed the NRA line of crap hook, line and sinker. There's a "Democrat for Bush" member. There's a union member who says that his union tells him to vote for Kerry but he won't. There's a miner with a hard hat and black face who thinks Kerry will abolish the second ammendment. There's a member of the Rolling Thunder motorcycle organization saying that he doesn't care what Kerry rides. On and on.

Here's the good news: I saw the show in South Carolina. During one part they plugged Repub wingnut Jim DeMint, candidate for senate. That's because "even if we defeat Kerry we need to elect Senators who won't select Supreme Court judges who'll do away with the Second Ammendment."

Why is it good news? Because, plainly the Repubs are panicked about Jim DeMint's chances. (I don't think that they're really concerned with Bush losing SC.)
