Where did the "liberals will ban the bible"
Edited on Sat Sep-25-04 12:55 PM by devrc243
crap come from? I thought it was a joke at first but now I see they are passing out flyers..wtf? This is the most absurd thing the GOP has come up with yet. We need to start putting out flyers that Bush will start the draft.

Even if anyone was stupid enough to believe that liberals would ban the bible they couldn't cause it's against our 1st amendment right. I smell another flyer...

3. They did get one idiot to believe it.
My niece's husband. I've tried to tell him that it's a lie but he won't hear it. A woman at this office is a bible thumper and he says she wouldn't lie.

6. Why do they get away with just lying their asses off about stuff like
this?

I think this is pretty damn bad but everyone treats it as a joke.

B/C's plan to win is not to get swing voters, it is to get out every evangelical they can round up with those church directories. These lies are part of this whole program.

8. projection
plenty of fundamentalists ban books they don't like...

Might undermine fundamentalist claims to authority if people knew ways to shoot holes in thier claims to being chosen to be in control of culture.

Fundies I think on a deep level, are scared to death and guilty for the things thier churches and especially the fundamentalist current in it, have done in the past to people that dissagreed and still they want to do these abuses of power.

Fearing that the many people who dissagee with their actions twords them might assert thier right to live free happy and expplore reality and thier own minds ,will resist the church,,rise up against the family values that create fascism,,fight bullies, conquer the power base and truly restrict the cruel self serving totalitarian impulse in the fundamentalist churches by taking away thier presumption of moral authority, so more people seeing through the trap, will choose to restrict the fundamentalist impulse and the church's power to warp secular laws into religious ones,Make culture pluralistic insteread of monistic,,restrict the fundamentalist vilagante or bullying actions and shut them up by arguing at them in the style they use to silence thier opponents with rigor and honesty the fundamentalist cannot have because the pretense of power and authority they push is hollow.Churches fear people fed up with them will do to the churchas they have done to countless others before. The fundies fear justice and are speaking for limit they desire to be put on them unconsiously because they as personalities lack self control..They are waiting to get the foot up thier rear and rejection from all the people they have abused in the name of social control, with a excuse about god to rationalize it.Abuses like the christians have done ever since Roman emporors started thier church and edited the bible,to remove the gnosis, and started killing the Cathars and heretics..

The religious burned heretic books, sacked nations, robbed cultures of thier memories, committed genocide, abused countless people, because they cklaim it was the will of thier god. When in fact it is the group consiousness of the bully pulpit and the leaders. Fundies it looks to me likeare waiting for the fed up and wised up to do something radical to shut them up because the fundi4e control freaks will not do it for themselves, too much pride and etitlement and narcissism illusions going on.Fundies know what might be coming to them deep down, they know they are responsible for harm and misusing spirituality, so they push and ask the question by a weird kind of persecutory complex(armageddon) and projection.

Creating thier bully turned victim scenario by hint,Ready to suffer when they lose the power, they abused,in a sick self fufilling prophecy.

Redemption is one mind game they use to save face and excuse abuses and claim god was on thier side..all along. What Fundies fail to even imagine is what if God supports the heretic and the people who don't abuse power ,who allow differences to be in people,or don't seek privelege, wealth, status,to be deemed right,or have or authority and so don't want to go burn other's books..?

Just a thought..

UP

9. interesting theory, it probably applies to some
of the leaders of the movement.

But the minions have drunk the kool-aid. They believe that by re-introducing religious beliefs to all of society, that the problems of society will be improved, instead of going after the root cause of the problems.

So whenever a court says you can't have the 10 commandment display in the courthouse, or the pledge of allegiance violates the separation of church and state, or other religious representations have to be removed from a school, it is a rallying cry like "Remember the Alamo!"

It doesn't matter that their kids don't go to the public schools, they want to spread the faith, its their mission.

11. Personally...
I would be susprised if you could find a single liberal who thinks the BIble should be banned. I personally hold the somewhat radical view that the world would be a better place if organized religion ceased to be, but I know that will never happen. Even if it did, though, the BIble would still be an important historical document, when we look back at its role in the founding of western civilization. We still commonly study Greek mythology, after all, although nobody in Florida is staring to the heavens asking Zeus why all the Hurricanes have been coming around lately (or praying to Poseidon that he will make the seas calm).

12. Tell them that this is proof the GOP is lying.
Tell them it is unconstitutional to do such a thing.
Tell them to start asking what else they have been lied to about.

Ask them to use their eyes to see what is going on.
Ask them to use their ears to hear what is going on.
And ask them to use their brains to think about all that they are hearing and seeing and how much sense it makes.

Then tell them there is a better way, John Kerry's way. Truth, freedom and the American way.

13. It is an act of desperation
The RNC has flipped its lid. I'm thinking the repukes smell the roses of an early chimpie retirement. The swift boat liar ads and now this. Pure desperation.

14. You didn't get the memo?
Hillary sent out a telepathic message to us last week to ban the Bible, force straight men to marry each other, and drink the blood of fetuses to strengthen Bill's condition.

Damn it! They caught us in the act AGAIN!
