Why their propaganda will fail...
Tell a man who is on fire that it is all in his imagination. He doesn't really feel any pain. It's an illusion. And no matter what you might say, the reality interferes with your words and pictures.

Just as when Bush says that Iraq is doing great and is on the way to democracy, we see a different reality. The families of those killed feel a different reality. There is an invisible line from which propaganda cannot succeed. Bush and Rove have crossed that line, in my opinion.

Just as when they talk about how good the economy is doing, and we see the reality of an Administration that has not created one net job in four years and is the first with that distinction since Herbert Hoover pre-Great Depression. They are somewhat more successful with their propaganda on this specific issue, but that shocking reality still lingers in many minds.

Just as when they say, "America is safer now". Safer than when? Safer than September 11th, 2001 ? We should certainly hope so. But the reality is when people are asked, "Are you better off than four years ago", they look at it in context of the whole and not individually, generally speaking, and do not see the nation doing nowhere near as well as we were doing 4 years ago. That is the reality that propaganda cannot defeat.

1. It's why senior was not reelected

He absolutely refused to acknowledge the recession. To those of us who were in recession bound New England at the time he sounded like he was the most uncompassionate individual in the history of man. It's a Bush family failing. They lack the compassion gene. It's why he can sleep at night with all those deaths on his conscience.

2. But
the propoganda might be succeeding where some morons actually think they are safer from terrorists because of that bullshit line "there has not been another attack since 9-11".

Or that Bush is some kind of tough guy the terrorists are afraid of.

I hear that shit so many times I want to scream!

3. I hope you are right
It's logical but nothing seems to be following logic these days. They have been very successful in instilling the 'fear factor' in the American public. The if you don't elect us you will all die theory. You have to give it to them on this, they are good at doing this. It's hard to overcome fear.

"of course the people don't want war...that is understood. But voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patrioticm and exposing the country to danger." Hitler's designated successor, Hermann Goering

This whole election is about the American people, can they be successfully duped and the world is waiting to see.

4. Yes, they are effective but the reality is too stark..
for them to overcome with their lies and deceptions. If these were "normal" times, no war and moderate prosperity, Bush would win in a cakewalk with the propaganda team he now has working for him, including the corporate media. Reality has a way of interferring with the dreams of madmen.
