Politicians never really tell THE truth. They tell THEIR truth.
When President Bush asks people to vote for him because he made sure that the tyrant Saddam Hussein was removed from power, and therefore America is a safer place, because the lesson of 9/11 is that no nation can leave a threat unattended. (take breath here) ......He's right....sort of.

But it doesn't match up that well with why he took the world to war in the first place and he never goes on to say that the next logical move would be an attack on North Korea, or Iran, or Syria, or Saudi Arabia or Somalia, Myanmar, or maybe even Chechnya. That's just what you get in a campaign. A version of a truth.

When John Kerry says that the president has offered 23 different rationales for this war and goes to say that "if (the president's) purpose was to confuse and mislead the American people, he succeeded." Kerry's not actually saying that the president actually set out confuse and mislead people, but if that's the "take-away" people get from the speech that's okay too. And when Kerry says the president "has not told the truth," and has miscalculated -- he's very careful NOT to say that the president is or was lying. He leaves people to fill in that blank themselves. Again, a version of the truth.

Buckle up gang. It's going to get way worse.

2. I agree with Gordan, sort of!
NO Politician has told the whole truth in my lifetime! I doubt that the majority of American people even want to hear the truth!

Shrub could say, if my economic plan doesn't work like I think it should, we could be in real trouble.

Kerry could say if I can't convince other countries to help us with Iraq and Afgan. we may loose this war and have to hang our heads like we did after 'Nam.

There are hundreds of other topics that could be stated in the same way, but people don't want to hear that, even if it is in the back of most minds.

3. It's the way the game is played
You are right; I mean people want a President who makes them feel good about themselves and their country.

4. Dick Gordon falls for the "equivalency" fallacy
He puts Bush's deliberate distortions of fact on the same par with JK's saying "here's what it looks like to me."

Bush said, "Here's the facts, now stop thinking about it!"

Kerry said, "Let's think about this, and re-examine the facts."

Another Dick gets the analysis all wrong. Is there anyone with access to a microphone who posesses basic critical thinking skills? No wonder "fake news" is winning news awards! Where would we be without Jon Stewart! :)
