Which media types are saying nice/rotten things about your candidate?
I'm for Dean and have been very pleased with who's saying what about him.

Nice

Paul Krugman: Told the Guardian that though he wasn't allowed to support a candidate, what Dean was saying about how to beat Bush "sounds about right." Also wrote two columns recently urging Democrats and journalists not to trash Dean just because he's in front.

William Greider: wrote an article called "Why I'm for Dean."

Bob Somerby: slammed media types for attacking Gore for endorsing Dean.

Joe Conason: Several columns poking holes in Dean-bashers on the right, mostly.

Rotten

Charles Krauthammer: devoted WP column to "psychoanalyzing" Dean, finding him delusional and urging mass contributions to RNC as a "cure."

David Brooks: neurotically frets about how "bad" Dean is for Democrats ;) regularly.

Nicholas Kristof: finds Dean too impolite and not religious enough.

Your turn.

1. my candidates are the Democrats
So, most of the media are saying as many bad things about them as they can. Bnut what do you expect from people whose salaries enable them to profit handsomely from *'s economic policies?

2. ABC Evening News last night
The segment was "Anger management." Ostensibly, about why Democrats shouldn't be so darned angry (anchor stomps dainty foot here). Shows a couple of Dem voters in Iowa. One of them has the audacity to be upset that American troops are dying in Iraq. Imagine!

Cut to newspaper guy, who intones that Dems had better get over their anger because it's unhealthy.

Well, you know where that's going, right? Dean is such a meanie! They show him denouncing the war. (At this point, I'm beginning to ask myself, "just when is it okay to get angry? When Bush has killed as many Americans as OBL has?") Dean is angry, and that's baaaaad!

So, they conclude with a snippet of film of our pathologically angry candidate...SMILING AND FLIPPING PANCAKES. There he is, spatula in hand, flipping pancakes expertly onto some guy's plate a few feet away. Are pancakes WMD's now? Should Dean be arrested for assaulting the guy with breakfast foods?

Give me a flipping break!

3. Helen Thomas, Mickey Kaus, William Saletan
As a Dean supporter, I found Helen's recent remarks about him encouraging. Whenever I go to Slate, Kaus has gone off on another anti-Dean rant. Saletan ditto.

5.  When I saw Kaus and Saletan
I was thinking, they're assholes, but if they like Dean, so be it. Then I read your post. I'm batting close to 1.000 in having journalists I respect agreeing with me and journalists I despise disagreeing with me. (I don't despise Kristof and Saletan, exactly, but I don't respect them much either.)

4. The Financial Press
Particularly CNBC's Kudlow and Cramer and Alan Murray and Gloria Borger, who hosted Kerry last night and fed him anti-Dean lines popular inside the beltway at the moment.

My only solace as we continue to win is this is demonstrating how completely out of touch the East Coast Beltway media is.

6. You said it!
It's like the "Great Disconnect" of 1998 all over again.
