If Iraq is making great progress, why doesn't Chimpy go there for a visit?
wouldn't that be a huge morale booster for the troops and a brilliant campaign move?

I'll answer my own question: because he knows he'd get his chicken-hawk ass blown up!

But really, if he thinks Iraq is so far along on the path to democracy and is minimizing the chaos there (didn't he say 15 cities could hold elections tomorrow) then why the hell DOESN'T he go there to rally the troops? He doesn't even need to bring a plastic turkey this time. Perhaps a jack-o-lantern would be seasonal.

Should Kerry point that out- Well, Mr. President, as Commander-in-Chief doesn't it behoove you to pay a visit to our men and women in the field fighting in our name? Whadda y'all think?

8. Excellent idea!
The coWard-in-chief is afraid to face dissenters at his campaign rallies, much less visit Iraq. Even if he did go to Iraq, he wouldn't dare step out of the airport. Plus, it would cost the taxpayers millions of dollars just to pay for all the protection the coWard-in-chief would demand to make himself feel safe. Never mind that our troops have to buy their own bullet-proof helmets to keep themselves safe.

12. Perhaps al-Zarqawi could invite Bush to Fallujah
for a little visit, to demonstrate how peaceful Iraq is now. After the hospitality of a sit-down dinner, al-Zarqawi could demonstrate his beheading technique on Bush.

14. I'd like to see junior and Allawi tour the Iraq country side and
give words of encouragement to not only the troops but to the Iraqis. And in each city, village, and town visited by these two brave great men, the new Iraqi flag is hoisted up a flag pole by junior.

15. Yes, great progress there
Al-Zarqawi is practicing surgery nearby our lines and delivers his patients almost back to their home. And I thought doctor's home visits were a thing of the past.

16.  what if... Kerry visited our troops in Iraq....
I just emailed Carville to suggest that Kerry ask this question in the debate-- rhetorically, I suppose since candidates aren't allowed to ask each other questions directly:

"Mr. President, as Commander-in-Chief doesn't it behoove you to pay a visit to our men and women in the field fighting for freedom in Iraq?"

Then, WHAT IF Kerry went to Iraq to "see for himself" conditions there and talk to the troops... very risky, but isn't this comparable to how he turned his boast around and drove it right towards the enemy? Wouldn't that show Americans WHO has the right stuff to be Commander-in-Chief, and who is a chicken-hawk, big-talking coward? And when Kerry returned and told how horrible things are there, he'd have the credibility of a witness- that Chimp doesn't have, because everything he knows is what his inner circle tells him- he doesn't even read the newspaper.

Of course, Kerry would be risking getting his ass shot off, but that would be part of the narrative. And doesn't the media love that shit?
Whadda y'all think?

18. risky, very-high stakes, but bold and daring
how could Bush spin that as a negative? It would shake up this race and put Chimpy on the defensive. The odds of surviving a visit to Iraq are way higher than those of surviving a Swift Boat tour of duty.
