John Edwards isn't running for the Senate.

However, Erskine Bowles, former Chief of Staff under President Bill Clinton, may keep that North Carolina US Senate seat from for the Democrats.

Erskine Bowles is an evironmentalist, and I donated $40 to his campaign tonight.

1. Erskine is up 10 points over the evil nasty Repuke.
Yes, I think we Dems will keep Edwards' Senate seat.

And the NC Dem Governor is running to keep his seat and he is up by 15 points.

3. I decided it was worth donating because Erskine Bowles
lost to Elizabeth Dole in 2002, and I don't want something similar to happen this year.

But as you said, Erskine Bowles has a nice lead in the polls.

4. I donated to Erskine too and I have a Erskine yard sign up in my yard!
I think he'll be a GREAT Senator.

And I hope his opponent Burr doesn't pull any lying crap at the last moment.

Also, I'm one of those crazy people who think Kerry could take the state.

6. Thank you, Eric!
I was watching Erskine Bowles in the last Senate race and think it's too cool that he gets to try again so soon.

I guess it will be he and libby for NC.

That reminds me that the DNC called my house tonight and I donated money to them.

I got real emotional on the phone because I was so appreciative of people like her calling Dems and all that's been going on with bush today and just everything..it's like my emotional damn just burst!

It's sacred our rights to vote and dissent and they are trying and have succeeded to an extent in taking that away.

8. This makes me so happy
My dream of dreams is for the Senate to swing back into Dem hands. I'm sure Kerry will win, so it will be so nice to hand him a Democratically-controlles Senate when he takes office in January.

10. Yay! Thank you! also...
I just have to tell you that whenever I see your name, I remember the Beverly Cleary children's book, Ramona the Pest. In her kindergarten class, there were 2 boys named Eric, and one of them was always referred to as Eric J., so as to distinguish him from the other one. I think he was a cute little fellow with a crew cut. Of course, all the boys in that decade had crew cuts...

12. Yeah it looks like Erskine will win here BUT
Burr has started to get nasty. He now has a new ad out trying to put Kerry and Bowles together. The ad pictures them both together saying Kerry and Bowles want to raise your taxes and raise the national debt. This is important because Bowles and Governor Easley have tried to distance themselves from Kerry. They fear they may lose the voters that are going to vote for chimp but will vote Democrat on everything else.

14. But, but, but...
I have it on good authority (some of the brilliant strategists we have here -- so the best authority!) that voters want strength, not ideology. So if Bowles would only stand up and say, "Yes, I want to raise your taxes!" the southern voters would be impressed by his balls, ignore his politics, and give him their votes. Right? Bowles is making a huge mistake here. If I can see it, why can't he and Easley?
