Poll shows Gephardt on Dean's heels in Iowa
Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean and Rep. Richard Gephardt are locked in a close race in a poll of Iowa voters 11 days before Democratic Party caucuses kick off the presidential nomination race in the state.
Dean is favored by 29 percent of Iowa Democrats and Gephardt by 25 percent, a result within the margin of error for the survey conducted by KCCI, a Des Moines, Iowa, television station. Senator John Kerry came in third with 18 percent, and 13 percent of the state's Democrats are undecided.

2. Gep is a true Democrat with a long history of being on our side
Gephardt along with Dennis Kucinich led the fight against the neo-liberals like Gore and Dean who pimped for Nafta and exporting jobs.

3. And Dean led the fight against neo-liberals like Gep
who favored abandoning our commitment to the UN and starting wars abroad.

7. No, that was Kucinich who led the fight, and voted against the War
Edited on Fri Jan-09-04 10:49 AM by WhoCountsTheVotes
Dean refused to even show up at peace rallies, and kept threatening the use of force against Iraq over and over again. He did make some clever campaign speeches, however.

Dean now supports the War Against Iraq, and wants us to occupy for years.

18. Hey, Dean's record is public and clear
Point out anything that's inaccurate?

1. Gore and Dean supported Nafta, Gephardt and Kucinich fought it. - TRUE

2. Dean supports the War Against Iraq (now) and wants us to occupy "for years" - his words. - TRUE

3. Kucinich went to peace rallies against the war, voted against the War, and is making getting us out of Iraq ASAP his major campaign issue. Dean never showed up at peace rallys, instead making speeches at his campaign stops - TRUE

20. Dean 'supports' the war and 'wants' us to occupy for years -- FALSE
Your words, dude. Total fabrications. Lies. If one tells lies, he/she is, by definition, a liar. You're a liar, QED.

Dean did not recently attend peace rallies -- TRUE

Dean never grew his hair long -- TRUE

Dean never wore a 'peace symbol' medallion -- TRUE

I'm sorry, again, my bad. He MUST be 'for' the war. :eyes:

19. Kucinich led the fight against the War, yes
and the neo-liberals and old-fashioned liberal hawks (like Gephardt) who supported it.

6. Yeah, he was right about NAFTA, but what has he done in the last 3 years..
..other than kiss Bush's ass and lose his own position in the House leadership? Dick's time has come and gone and he's the one to blame for it.

12. What kind of "hope" is that?
Gephardt certainly won't win the nomination (and God help us all if he did). So does that mean you WANT a long primary season that's not settled until Boston?

Hey, that's what KKKarl Rove wants too! 3 months to focus on Bush isn't long enough. Not the way these bastards play.

9. what this report fails to mention
is that their previous survey had Dean and Gep tied at 26% so Dean has gained three points and Gep has lost one.

14. What spin! Gep has been in steady decline for months in Iowa...
Edited on Fri Jan-09-04 11:00 AM by JaneQPublic
...according to this pollster, which by the way gave Dean a strange blip of a 20-point increase in less than 2 months. Here's their graph, but believe the data at your own risk:

Edit: see page 3 for the graph showing poll results over the past few months.

21. Gep LOST the lead Dean now has.
So your post is a bit misleading. Perhaps, "Gephardt has managed to stop hemoraging ground to Dean even though he is about to be overtaken by Kerry." Its not very short or poetic, but it is accurate.
