Honest question:
Should we bail out of Iraq? I don't ever see an end to this war. All opinions welcomed!

1. How can we bail?
We should at least clean up after our messes, shouldn't we?

2. All we are doing right now is mess up even more...
and frankly, I don't think there's much that can be done about that fact.

8. So the world community can help us do what?
Force American wishes upon the people of Iraq?

The move will be met with resistance, as it has been so far.

And the "world community" will still be seen as foreign occupiers, as they will be, in league with the invaders, as they also will be, so I doubt the Iraqis will be so much more happier with them there.

9. No not force American wishes on Iraq! Sheesh!
To make sure they set up what kind of Government they want.

So are you suggesting that we pull out & let them fend for themselves?

10. Then you are assuming that the US will let them do that...
Edited on Fri Sep-17-04 12:31 AM by Darranar
which I highly doubt it will.

And even if it does try a new tack in that area, it will still be met with resistance, because of past actions.

11. I'll ask again, are you saying that we should pull out

12. Pull out, yes, certainly...
let them fend for themselves, only partially. The US should pay for the rebuilding of the nation.

13. Thats where de disagree.
Which is ok. But I don't see how if we pulld out we would be even in worse shape in the world community than we already are.

14. I think ending the occupation...
but at the same time acting responsibly and paying the bill would do the exact opposite, at least in regard to popular opinion.

19. I am worried about the citizens of Iraq
& what will happen if we pull out of there with no plan. I never said stay the course. I said we just can't leave. Please read more carfully.

4. NO
I was against this war and I think the Neocons really blew this one. This was a collossal, mammoth, spectacular f#ckup!

Tha being said, the US needs to work the diplomacy angle really really hard to bring stability to the region. Pulling out now would be disasterous and not only for Iraq. There is a great amount at stake here.

But the planners of this war need pink slips in haste.

5. Kerry has a sensible plan for getting us out
Go to johnkerry.com to read about it. It is reassuring to know that if Kerry is elected, we will have a leader who can handle this.

6. That's my problem.
I don't think anyone can handle this and I dread the thought of our guys and gals fighting for something that ain't gonna happen. They did not ask for us, we're are not welcomed, so WTF? Thank you, * .

16. That is why Kerry will get other countries into it, maybe we can ease out
slowly with little harm and big results. Like finding Osama and his cronnies.

18. It does seem overwhelming
I too feel very upset about the situation that our troops are in over there. Hearing Walter Rodgers report the other day on CNN that so much of the country (even most of Baghdad) isn't secure makes me wonder how much worse this is going to get.

17. Yes before we have another thousand dead on our side and
be responsible for the over two thousand dead of Iraq citizens, you cannot stay in a war that is and has been proven to be completely unwinnable..

It is time to end this occupation...
