Please Post: Five Reasons Why I'm Voting For Kerry
Requirement: MUST be pro-Kerry reasons, not anti-Bush reasons. Thanks! I'll start:

1. Kerry has shown that he has guts and principles (going to Vietnam, *then* protesting against Vietnam, you know that's hard).
2. Kerry led the investigation against BCCI and brought down a major source of terrorist funding.
3. Kerry is in favor of the separation of church and state. He is a religious guy but he understands that religion is a private thing.
4. Kerry was one of the original sponsors of Clean Money, Clean Elections act. (I am TOTALLY in favor of this.)
5. Kerry seems to me to be a really good fellow: intelligent, knowlegeable about the world, willing to listen to different opinions, willing to really tackle the tough stuff.

Boy! I could go on, but I'll stop at 5.

NEXT?

1. Mine:
Because the man is actually qualified to be President.

He has served his country unselfishly.

His wife would be a fun First Lady.

His health care plan would be a great improvement over what we have.

We could proudly send him overseas without worrying that he'd make an ass of himself.

Oh, another: He will try to solve the deficit problem without privatizing social security.

2. my turn...
1. Kerry showed he is brave, both to go to a war when he could of easily blown it off...AND then to come back and say it was horribly wrong to be there...
2. Kerry seems to have a plan for the middle class...and not cater to the rich...which I am not--I would like a President who is not favoring the elite..but cares about all Americans and Kerry is the man to do that.
3. Kerry is smart, thorough..cautious...(soemthing I WANT in a leader) and brave.
4. I believe Kerry can get the world to rally back with us...or get the world to look at us in a different light...
5. He is HEAVILY into the enviornment and cares about finding alternate ways to reduce our oil dependency...

KERRY WILL WIN ON NOVEMBER 2!

6. Reasons to support Kerry
1. Strong on the environment
2. Won't appoint RW wacko judges to the SCOTUS
3. Won't spend this country into oblivion.
4. Will bring the respect of the world back to this country.
5. Iraq may be lost, but I think Kerry will try to save it rather than continue bullheadedly on this disasterous path.

7. Easy assignment!
1. Kerry will protect the separation of church and state.

2. Kerry plans to enhance the current (failing) No Child Left Behind

3. Kerry will try to reverse the damage that's been done to our environment by offering compromises to businesses and industries.

4. Kerry has a plan to help our family afford college education for our three children (one that doesn't include us living in a cardboard box under the interstate or being in debt until we're 90)

5. Edwards has publically stated that if he and Kerry are elected there will be NO DRAFT

8. Ok, totally ignoring the fact that W deserves sacking
Here are five reasons why Kerry will be a good president:

1. Kerry has specific plans to develop alternative energies and reduce American dependence on foreign oil.

2. Kerry has a specific plan to get us out of Iraq as soon as possible.

3. Kerry has a specific plan to help millions of Americans buy health insurance.

4. Kerry has a strong record as an environmentalist, which means that he will protect our nation's air, water, and land to ensure our health and well-being.

5. Kerry will appoint reasonable, moderate justices to the Supreme Court and federal judiciary.

I could go on but those are the most important issues to me.

11. Great idea for a thread: my top 5
1. He's not George W. Bush
enough said

2. His role in Vietnam.
I wasn't around at the time, but I'm pretty sure I would have dodged that draft. Kerry went. He acted heroically. More importantly, he took the unpopular (but RIGHT) position as a leader of the anti-war movement.

3. His work as a prosecutor
Once again answering the call to stand up for people that need someone to fight for them. I think he sees the difference between being tough on crime, and tough on criminals

4. Senate investigation of BCCI
He busted the terrorists' bank! Awesome! How come the ONLY place I ever hear about this is on DU?

5. John Edwards
If this election weren't all War/Terra I'd want this guy at the top of the ticket.

12. Let's see
1. Kerry will lead us down a more sane foreign policy path.
2. Kerry will help restore the respect of the United States around the world.
3. Kerry is an articulate, intelligent thoughtful person, who I would trust in a crisis situation.
4. I believe Kerry will start to lay the groundwork for a more sensible health-care system.
5. And last but not least, he's not a lying, corrupt, murdering, pathetic excuse for a human being like the chimp currently occupying the White House.

1. Kerry will do more to protect the environment.
2. He will push to develop alternative energy with tax credits, etc.
3. He has been to war and knows what it's like. He had the guts to stand up against torture and atrocity. I feel I can trust him to be our leader during war.
4. Health care!!! I would love to start a business but don't know how I could afford health care for the few people I would need to hire.
5. He will work to get rid of the parts of the Patriot Act that are against our civil rights.
6. Oh, I forgot....he will make the traitor Corps/CEOs who locate offshore pay their damn taxes like the rest of us. (Sorry this is six, but I had to add this one.)

15. My reasons:
1. Kerry has the better know-how in handling this shithole we call Iraq.
2. Kerry's offering a $4000 tax credit to families with kids in college.
3. Kerry won't be afraid to tell special interests to shut the fuck up.
4. Kerry's an all-around nice guy, and he's from my home state to boot: he's intelligent, worldly, and he's open to other viewpoints.
5. Kerry's proved his mettle in 20 years in the US Senate, and shown me that he has the guts and the smarts to tackle anything heading his way.

16. My take...
1) He'll reverse the fiscal damage exacted by Bush.
2) He'll stop the hemorrhaging of American soldiers' lives in Iraq.
3) He'll put us back on track for the war on terror and actually work to beef up our own National Security (Borders, Ports, Trains, Nuclear/Chemical Plants)
4) He'll reverse the damage inflicted upon the environment by Bush's pro-business policies.
5) He'll bring truth and accountability back to our government.
