We shouldn't let Washington parlor game coverage in the press blind us to the fact that the Obama foreign policy team with partners in Congress are working seamlessly. Take a look:

Kerry Applauds Resolution To Return President Zelaya To Power in Honduras

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Senator John Kerry (D-MA), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement today in response to Honduran President Manuel Zelaya and Roberto Micheletti reaching an agreement to return President Zelaya to power:

“I welcome the agreement ending the crisis in Honduras. The restoration of democracy is an historic accomplishment for the Honduran people . The accord provides a roadmap for elections on November 29, but success will depend on rigorous international monitoring of the accord’s implementation.

“I also want to congratulate Costa Rican President Arias, OAS Secretary General Insulza, and Assistant Secretary Tom Shannon and his team. With this crisis resolved, I look forward to the speedy Senate confirmation of Mr. Shannon as our Ambassador to Brazil and Dr. Arturo Valenzuela as Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs.”

3. I have read Al's blog. He also says that IF the diplomatic team
got all ducks in a row for that Congressional vote and Supreme Court, that it will work. I think they have done so. I love Al, but he is wrong as often as he is right. I'll update if conditions change, of course.

5. I hope you're right. But I'm not optimistic about Latin American policy.

2. He OUGHT to be one of first to applaud her on this since he helped bring her along to Zelaya side

as she was leaning early on to the GOP/hawk position.

This is a huge deal, and I am happy she used her talent to achieve the appropriate resolution. And a big thankyou to Senate Dems who stayed tough AGAINST the coup and influenced this outcome.

Hopefully the reports of resolution are accurate.

4. I think since Kerry weighed in that it is accurate.
Al Giordano, who I respect, has expressed his worries, but I get the impression that even he sees how it will work provided a couple of things happen.

journey and it looks like it will be a successful one.

Thanks to all the hard work of those behind SOS Clinton who also made this possible.

7. President Obama built a brilliant diplomacy team
That is serious, smart and works together. The MSM is a disgrace for not acknowledging it.

8. CNN has article pointing to why deal will go through:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/americas/10/30/honduras.president/index.html

Although Zelaya's return to the presidency is not guaranteed in the eight-point pact, several analysts say they expect the congress will approve the measure.

"If Micheletti came forward with a public announcement, the odds of this being approved by congress are pretty good. It's a done deal," said Kevin Casas-Zamora, a senior foreign policy fellow at the non-partisan Brookings Institution and a former vice president of Costa Rica. "It would be a horrible letdown if congress did not approve the agreement."

Peter Hakim, president of the Inter-American Dialogue policy institute, also believes "they'll go ahead and vote for it."

Said Larry Birns, director of the liberal Council on Hemispheric Affairs: "There seems to be no other way."
