Wilson Out of New Mexico Governor's Race
Former Republican Rep. Heather Wilson will not run for New Mexico governor in 2010.

Wilson announced her decision in an e-mail to supporters sent Thursday, the New Mexico Independent reported.

Wilson cited her work in the private sector and personal time with family as deterrents to running for office this cycle. And she added that "the Governor of New Mexico has no significant national security role -- an issue area that continues to be an important part of my life."

Wilson left her 1st District House seat to run for Senate in 2008, losing to then-Rep. Steve Pearce in the Republican primary.

Shewould have been a top contender, but not a shoo-in, for the GOP nomination. Four Republicans are already in the race -- state Rep. Janice Arnold-Jones, Doña Ana County District Attorney Susana Martinez, PR firm owner Doug Turner and former state GOP Chairman Allen Weh.

1. That's good I guess--she probably would have been a strong candidate
she's smart and she's slick. I attended a debate between her and Richard Romero a few years ago when he was trying to unseat her for congress. Based on their debate performances, had I gone in there uninformed and undecided, I probably would have been convinced to vote for her...We got very lucky here that the right wing nutcases in eastern New Mexico ( which is basically just an extension of Texas politically) put Steve Pearce over the top in a close repub primary for Senate . I think Tom Udall would have probably beaten her ( but maybe not, too), but it certainly wouldn't have been the cakewalk it was over Pearce....I don't know anything about any of those repubs that were mentioned , outside of Allen Weh, who's typical repub slime...I assume the others are , based on the fact that they're repubs, although I can't automatically assume that. As an example, we have a repub mayor-elect ( Richard Berry--sadly, NOT the Richard Berry that wrote Louie Louie) in Albuquerque... and Jerry Ortiz Y Pino, a very progressive Democrat; one of our best really ( and may be our Lt. Gov. candidate), had some kind things to say about Berry in a recent newspaper column. Not that he agreed with Berry on much politically, but said that he was actually a decent enough guy, which for a republican in 2009, is saying a lot.

2. This is definitely good news - Heather IS slick and seems to be an excellent debater
Although, personally I don't get why anyone would respond positively to her.

Now, please let us see her indicted along with the rest of the scum who helped politicize our justice system during the nightmare of the Bush cabal.

4. And of course there's also the fact that she's
a lying sack of shit. That would keep you from running for office.
