Could we raise money for a new Oval Office rug?
I just downloaded Countdown from iTunes and watched it over lunch. Keith again reminded me that Obama kept smirk's 'I am God' rug.

Seriously. The current rug was 60k. I am confident that the intertubes could produce that.

1. No sorry
I would rather raise money for a worthy cause.

I could care less about the rug people walk on and Bo sleeps on.

And it is not necessary right now.

3. Use it up, wear it out, make do, or do without
Perhaps visitors to the oval office can be issued hobnailed boots.

4. I think keeping it showed great tolerance and sensibility...
It's a rug; the room needs a rug. It's a hideous thing because we all think of Dumbya when we see it, but it can also serve as a reminder of how W robbed us blind and how we fought back and won. I hate that damn rug with a fiery passion! But it would be wasteful to replace it, and then we'd be without another reminder of our victory over stupidity and evil.

6. I read that the new POTUS usually keeps the old furnishings around for a year or so...
... before redecorating. It probably comes out of his own household budget, but I don't know for sure.

Aside from that, I'm with you. I never liked that yellow rug, nor the rest of Laura's color scheme, and now it just reminds me of Them. I'll be interested to see what Michelle comes up with. Or the decorator, if she isn't into doing it herself.

7. $60,000 could go for something much more worthy than buying a new rug for the oval office.

11. If it's any consolation.....
.... this is the room where all the work gets done anyway...

.... it's a study off of the Oval Office.

Because a man doesn't go from a desk that looks like this...

to one that looks like this...

So it's in the OTHER room where all the work gets done.

But then again, the OTHER room is where Bill Clinton Lewinskied an intern, so maybe that's worse. :)

12. They must have all kinds of Oval Office rugs in storage.
Maybe he should bring one out from a previous era. Maybe JFK's to go with the desk.
