Kerry and Berman ask the Library of Congress to retract the Honduras report DeMint and others cite

The report, which has contributed to the political crisis that still wracks Honduras, contains factual errors and is based on a flawed legal analysis that has been refuted by experts from the United States, the Organization of American States, and Honduras,” Kerry and Berman wrote in the letter.

<snip>
The report, which went public last month, has been cited by Republicans as evidence that the de facto Honduran government was right to take power when the military forced Zelaya into exile in late June.

<snip>
Kerry and Berman say the report is “misleading to the Congress and the public.”

They lay out three problems in the report. First, they argue it follows a line of analysis based on a Honduran constitutional provision that was struck down in 2003 by the Honduran Supreme Court. Second, the write that parts of the report relay on a supporter of Zelaya's ouster. Finally, they say the report presents a “unique” interpretation of the Honduran constitution without “adequate textual or precedential support.”

1. I hope he is successful in this. DeMint and others should not be undermining our government
and using this information to do so.

2. What is more important may be considering what review process there is for these papers

This report, as Kerry and Berman say, has created mischief. It has been cited all over the blogosphere - including by a troll here - who was quickly corrected by people, like Judi Lynn, who are very knowledgeable on the issue. I thank those people for patiently explaining the truth to me and others.

I know in academia and in technical organizations, there are review processes, are there any here? It is really bad when this is sited as an official position of "Congress" - even though that is an inaccurate statement to begin with.

4. Anything Demint is involved with is a complete and total clusterfuck, imo,
and you can take that to the bank! DeMint, Graham, Sanford, SC's 3 Stooges.

5. Throw in Joe Wilson and maybe SC should have been allowed to secede.
The others actually make Graham look good in comparison. The few times I've seen DeMint in one of the SFRC meetings, he was always ill informed and annoying.
