Phil Parlock claims that he hid
nine Bush-Cheney signs under his pant leg.
Now I do have some expertise in the area of political signs. My husband and I own and operate a screen printing business for over 20 years.
All of the standard Bush/Cheney and Kerry/Edwards signs that you see people holding up at rally and in their yards are 14" X 22". The reason for this is that most of these signs are made out of polycoated cardboard which comes in 28" X 44" sheets. Most screen printers buy blanks cut to 22" X 28" and are scored at the top for folding over stakes. That gives you two faces that are 14" X 22". This has become the standard size throughout the screen printing industry for this type of work.
As for the material itself. Polycoated cardboard is a thick white cardboard that is laminated with a plastic covering. The plastic covering makes this type of sign difficult to rip without a scizzors. I have also seen Kerry signs that are just plain cardboard without the coating but they are still 14" X 22" and the edges won't come out perfectly straight if you rip them up in anger.
So now, take 9 - 14" X 22" signs and try to fold them up. Then try to stick them up you pants leg. Good luck, unless you're wearing hip hop pants, you can't do it. No less, be able to walk and look normal.
Okay so now take these 9 signs out of your pants, without attracting the attention of SS, and then try to flatten them out again. Lot's of luck.
Then take this folded and mutilated sign and try to tear it up. You definitely will not have the perfectly cut pieces like the one that Dad is holding in his hands, showing just the right portion of the sign so that a positive ID can be made in the pics.
This guy might have had nine pieces of one sign (pre-cut) up his leg, but there is no way he had nine perfect signs up there. Sorry, no way.
