Pawlenty: President Obama 'corrosive' to pillars of U.S. society
President Barack Obama is having a "corrosive" effect on the pillars of U.S. society, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) asserted Monday.

A top GOP contender to face off against Obama in 2012, Pawlenty accused the president of using "bait-and-switch" tactics in the debate to overhaul the nation's healthcare system.

Pawlenty railed against Obama's policies in an interview with the conservative Newsmax magazine, warning the president would spend the U.S. into bankruptcy.

"And what’s behind it is a philosophy that government knows best, a nanny-state mentality on domestic issues that will ultimately be corrosive to the other pillars of our country — to markets, private enterprise, individual responsibility, freedom and liberty," Pawlenty said in an interview with the magazine posted online Monday.

2. Timmy the Tool is becoming more and more
of a pandering douche every day. He's sucking up to the wingnut base, but here in MN, most people wouldn't piss on him if he were on fire. Good thing he's not running for Governor again because he wouldn't have a chance.

21. He's trying to position himself to win a GOP nomination.
Which, of course, puts him out of position to do anything with such a nomination. ;-)

6. It's alarming and disgusting that he (and so many others) are
looking at our current situation and attempts as merely a STRATEGY to use to further their future political aspirations. They honestly have no care or concern about the state of our country, economy, citizens. It's truly frightening.

12. Just not enough personal responsibility and private enterprise to hold that bridge up.
Clearly the people of Minnesota let themselves down.

18. Let's also remember he vetoed the bill that would have raised income taxes
for single people making more that $250,000 and couples making $500,000 (a raise that would have applied only to the amounts over $250k or $500k), but, good Christian that he claims to be, he cut 30,000 of the poorest people off General Assistance Medical Care.

Many of the people cut off will still be showing up at the ERs at Hennepin County Medical, North Memorial (both in Hennepin County) and Regents Hospitals (in Ramsey County). The Hennepin County board is considering a 5% increase in property taxes to cover what it will cost the county to continue to cover these people. Regents is looking at staff cuts to cover the costs.

All so Timmy could keep his "pledge" not to raise taxes.

13. When I saw Pawlenty first time, thought came to me that I would consider him for my vote in 2016
but his recent comments are crazy and far too right for me.

19. Trust me, you don't want him holding office even when he's having one
of his increasingly rare periods of lucidity.

15. Looks like No Chin Timmy is angling for the shrinking 20% Repig base
As for the "nanny-state mentality", isn't that the very reason for anti-choice legislation that Timmy embraces?

17. Pawlenty needs to worry about the real corrosion on the bridges in Minnesota.
I'm surprised he even has the nerve to use the word.

20. I certainly hope so. I hope that President Obama turns out to be corrosive ...
of the type of "pillars" that Pawlenty celebrates. My major fear is that he won't be.

25. Just like "neglect" has a corrosive effect on bridges, eh, Timmy?

I guess you would know about corroding society, playing to your tax avoider base.
