Bullshit headline of the Year: First Daughters Not Vaccinated Against H1N1
Edited on Sun Oct-25-09 07:00 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
See, Obama won't risk his own daughters lives with the deadly mind-control toxin-laden H1N1 vaccine. :grr: :grr: :grr:

See, he says it's an emergency, but if it was an emergency why wouldn't he have his own family vaccinated? :tinfoilhat: :tinfoilhat: :tinfoilhat:

What's wrong with this story?

They are healthy children who are not eligible to get the vaccine

"The Centers for Disease Control recommend that children ages 6 months through 18 years of age receive a vaccination against the H1N1 flu virus. At this time only children with chronic medical conditions are receiving the vaccination because their immune system is not strong enough to fight off the strain." (On the bright side, at least we know they're not pregnant, since then they could get the vaccine.)

It would be a scandal if they WERE vaccinated.

Perfect example of a FOX editorial-as-news story. It's all true, and the story explains why the girls are not vaccinated. But the entire point of the non-story is the provocative headline implying some sort of shady business regarding the Obamas.

13. Yes.....
When President Obama talked about the vaccine, he said that his daughters would get in line with everybody else.

Still, I trust him but don't trust the drug companies. CBS did a report that said that most cases reported were not actually diagnosed as H1N1 or regular flu. They also said that in some other countries that have been through the flu season they have down-graded the threat.

2. The headline should read "Where The Hell Is The Vaccine???"
- THAT'S the real story! H1N1 vaccination clinics have been set up and then canceled in my area as the vaccine is not available as promised. My granddaughter is two and has asthma, she NEEDS this vaccine. I have two teenagers that need it, also.

If the vaccine was coming forth as we were originally told, the First Daughters would be vaccinated and so would my family. Someone needs to come forward and explain this delay and give us some real information as to when we will be receiving the vaccine.

12. The mist version of the vaccine is available here in northern CA for children
Our pediatrician had doses of the H1N1 vaccine available. However, because it is the mist version (that uses a live attenuated virus), they are not giving it out to people with asthma. We were told the injected version of the vaccine which is OK for asthmatics is still a few weeks away.

20. Yeah, my daughter just got the vaccine for that reason. I took her in for a routine
checkup and asked the pediatrician if they were vaccinating kids in her age range/risk category yet, and since all they had was the mist, the answer was yes. If they'd had nothing but the shots, they would have been reserving those doses for the kids with health problems. The doc said to call back in a month to see if a booster dose is available. If not, I guess at least some protection is better than nothing while we wait for more vaccine to arrive.

3. Where did all the posters go who insisted
the swine flu was just a distraction to make us not notice something else that was going on in Washington?

They said it wasn't real and was just a hoax to manipulate the masses.

4. I don't get it.
Day after day there are posts on DU telling everyone to panic and get their children vaccinated RIGHT NOW or they are going to die. There is one DUer in particular who wishes death on all those who don't get vaccinated. Someone needs to get the story straight.

16. You're quite good at playing dumb.
And since you're playing "coy hyperbole queen" as well, if you're referring to me, I'll restate my position; I think it's pretty clear, and gives a pass to people with legitimate reasons not get get the shot.

If one can get the vaccine, and one chooses not to, one is putting others who cannot get the vaccine in danger of potentially dying from the disease. And for that choice you would get no mourning from me should you die of the disease, and I would offer nothing but derision and contempt for anyone encouraging others to make that reckless, selfish choice.

Sorry I missed you in the other thread, thanks to DU's features I won't have to see your silly posts any more.

17. The same with their choice of schools
The last president who "dared" send his child to public school while in office was Carter. That was his choice, and others have a right to their choice.

7.  Over 65
I am over 65+ with a heart condition. This year when I went to the doctor for the regular flu shot they were all out of those also. First time in 10 years. No one has any flu vaccine. So I guess I hope I don't get sick.

Now I wonder why - Fox is screaming - for the Obama girls to get the shots and some nut from Fox said it should be on TV in front of everybody because they don't trust the white house.

9. HIPPA privacy rules
The HIPPA privacy rules outlaws anyone from knowing about the medical file of another person except for a parents of a child or an adult who gives another person the right to see it or has a Medical Advance Directive identifying a person who can make decisions if you are unable to.

That is why you can't visit anyone in the hospital unless they have given their permission and you are on the list. This certainly includes the Obama daughters. No one but their parents and health care provider has any right to know whether they have received it or not.

Fox is a trouble maker and up to it's old tricks. They should be educating people about who of their audience needs to get the HINI Vaccine when it becomes available. They are running behind schedule in it's production.

15. Technically, I believe HIPA simply directs behavior of health professionals
...with regard to what they may release, and to whom, not "knowing about the medical file" exactly.

For example, law enforcement is not bound by HIPA. If a state trooper is at an accident scene, and tells a reporter there was a severed head in the center lane, or that the victim in an accident bumped his head and "is probably going to be OK," he hasn't violated HIPA. A paramedic at the same scene cannot comment on the condition of his patient in any way to the same reporter, unless he violates the terms of HIPA.

You are absolutely correct on the rest of your post.

FWIW, Thom Hartmann is talking about this today on the Carl Wolfson morning show on KPOJ in Portland.

Good catch. The reason I posted this today is because DRUDGE posted it today, just to be able to use the headline "First daughters not vaccinated"

The fact that it's an old story makes the strategy even more obvious, which is to use a headline as emotional-news when the story itself (which a much smaller number of folks will read) undercuts the headline's implications

"Obama plays more golf in 9 months that Bush did in 3 years"

Well, of course Bush stunk at golf! Golf is always more fun when
you are good at it.
